The weather is madness, but we have a lot of pluses. We are definitely one of the the reddest states in the nation. We are in the Bible Belt and have a very strong Christian population. I'm pretty sure that more than half our population consists of country folks. Country folks are incredibly resilient.
We are a gun sanctuary state! This is a huge plus in my viewpoint. We have Wanemacher's, The World's Largest Gunshow twice a year. I used to go all the time with my dad.
Imo, it's the best place to be when the bleep hits the fan.

We have a bunch of cattle and a bunch of oil. I'm not sure why we don't just become our own country lol jk :D

That sounds like you are blessed to live in such a haven.
Those memories of time with your Dad are no doubt valuable.

I hope that wall of storms missed you.
It's supposed to arrive in West Virginia soon.
There was a time prior to the civil war when the states were recognized as individual countries with free trade among themselves. Most of the world still uses the term state and country individually, even the UN. You hear the speakers refer to the "Nation states."
Since northern states won the war and set up a replacement government, the federal has become far more powerful. We are getting a little perspective of that as DODGE does a simple audit.
Now we've been led to accept the federalization of the states as weak subservient districts of them.
I got off on a rabbit trail. 🐇

Glad to know that you all have additional state legislation that prohibits the usurpation. That's an example of how it should be. The state supercedes the fed, or the things specifically not detailed in the constitution go to the state or the individual. 10 Amendment if I remember right.

Yes, memories of dad and his guns are precious to me. I spent many evenings growing up watching him working on his guns.

When Oklahoma was Indian Territory, we fought the Union and the Five Civilized Tribes supported the Confederacy. We didn't trust the government. Why would we? They certainly hadn't given us any good reason to trust them.

I hope you'll be secure from any storm activity. We had quite the day yesterday! Wildfires, homes burning, high winds, dust storm, wind damage, power outages. My power went out, but at least it was only for 2 hours and thankfully I didn't have a fire problem. I had to get out and about today and I'm thankful to say that things have been pretty calm today. Stay safe!
