Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a spouse and church hopping isn't working that well, in the last year and a half I've been to every church in a 250 miles radius (maybe not every church but a lot of them). I've come to the conclusion that young women stop going to church at the age of 17 and come back to church around the age of 40 lol. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good get-togethers for Christians?

I've heard of a shindig they have in Florida and Mississippi, but that's a kinda long way for me to go because I live in the Midwest.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Have you done any online searches for Christian single groups?

I'm in GA but I heard about one on the radio which I eventually checked out. All older people (45+) but at least it was a group of singles and they liked to hike/camp and did events like that all the time. Mostly it was fun just to fellowship and know everyone was in a similar boat lol.

I've heard of two others but one is run through a large church in ATL that requires interviews of some sort, and the other one had younger people and had issues with fraternizing..there was another very well known one that the church leadership decided for whatever reason to move to a younger group (more of a college group) and less of a mixed age group. Pretty disappointing frankly.

So no, I haven't found one that fit any specific need but sometimes one thing leads to another as far as networking is concerned. Not sure how you feel about Focus on the Family but maybe they do some events of some kind. Serving is a good way to meet other people if you have a heart for that also.

well no
I dont live in US but I think they just dont go. Because they have to stay at home and look after everyone. Or you arent checking out the Sunday Schools, which are on at the same time as church services. So what happens is the pastor says 'children time for you to go to your program' and all the children vanish.

And there all the young women are teaching Sunday School and making snacks. Because if you are serious about finding a spouse you must be serious about having CHILDREN right? Well they would welcome your help. Babysitting isnt always easy.

The parents themselves stay at the service and get a welcome 1-2 hours child free time.

Usually Sunday schools are held in the church basement or a little room off to the side.

This is so children can sing at the top of their voices 'Jesus loves me' 'No matter how we sneeze God loves us the same' and hang upside down drom the rafters without disturbing everyone else.

If you cant handle children I dont know if you can really handle being married. So good testing ground.

Some areas are easier to find Christian single groups through Meetup. In my area, there are 3 groups within a hour driving.
But I also discovered that a number of members in the Christian groups are part of other groups that are not titled "Christian." For example, age related social groups and hiking groups.
Perhaps, calling all the churches in the area to see if they have single groups within the church. Unfortunately, some churches are so family-oriented that singles are left to find for themselves and often leave the church.

I might start looking for some groups in the bigger city's, I'm part of a aviation club in my area but it's kind of like all the churches I've been to, 90% of the members are over the age of 40.

I'm from a big family so I've been around kids my whole life so that's not a problem. The thing is it's a little hard to find a church with a lot of young kids, at least in my area everyone has like one kid lol

It's not just the women that take off, although seems like a lot of the men don't come back until their wives coerce them to. But yeah it's tough being single in church and most churches are almost afraid to form any sort of singles group because they're concerned that well I assume they're concerned that single people might actually meet other Christians they're attracted to and then face even more sexual temptation and they don't know how to deal with that in any kind of useful way. And honestly singles groups done wrong can easily devolve into little more than a hookup social, but that's not a good excuse for not learning to do it right.

Bottom line is that most of the time for various reasons church and singles (especially never married singles) have a rather difficult relationship and very little is done for Christian singles over the age of 35 or so. And that's why a lot of us hang out here.

Practically, your best bet is to find a church or church group that doesn't make single people feel completely invisible, excluded, or used ( I think the most egregious example of this was the church I visited that advertised the married adults game night; no idea why they thought single people shouldn't be allowed to play games with married people; but there's also the more general idea that single people have more time to volunteer or work at church or staff all the events for married people that aren't applicable to them, or as a woman I can tell you that so many women's group meet around 10 AM on a weekday when most singles have to be at work); then supplement your life with activities that may not be expressly Christian but can widen your social circles. Before Covid I had a monthly board game group and hopefully there will be another improv group in the not too distant future. But yeah past couple years have been even more difficult to get out into social groups and do stuff with people.

dont know the demographics of where you live but areas where there are young kids are usually in the cheaper suburbs with newer houses.

If there is a new elementary school on the area, chances are that school is supporting the neighbourhood kids. I think people overlook that school is actually the centre of many communities, more so than churches. There are also christian preschools.

if you live in the city, like many will have a CBD (central business district) you might find many young women live in apartments close to where they have jobs. Where do these young women go to socialise? well most just hang out with each other or their work does social things.

university towns (but only if you are studying at the univeristy) will have social clubs. But these days, many univeristies are doing things online and the pressure of working AND studying ( cos who is actually paying for this education?) means many women actually dont have time to socialise.

the midwest...of US. From what I know thats like kansas, dakota, and those praririe towns!
Thats where tumble weeds go!

I think you just have to start visiting every little house. Or when the country fair/rodeo comes to town. lol

You need a big sign, like a billboard on the side of the road...or a grain elevator.
It can say MAN SEEKS WIFE! TURN HERE
