I actually just changed up some things and went with the ddx 396 headunit with cdt 2 inch wide bands they are called the cdt unity 7.5 speakers and im going to use the rainbow 6.5 speakers without their dedicated tweeters and use the tweeters in the 2 inch widebands with the cab 165 5 channel amp with the eton m10 flat subs. This isnt a banger system but a sound quality system first and foremost. (the 2 inch wide bands will be on their own amp channels and so will the 6.5 rainbow speakers and the eton subs will be on the 5th channel)
So, now that you ask.....
I got a Pioneer CD stereo installed with a set of 4 new speakers. The price was to the moon. Might as well be working with criminals in the underworld. O.k., maybe a little dramatic, but they charge a pretty penny (more like a half ounce of gold).
Only reason I spent the money, because the stereo was failing, and I had a couple of blown speakers. Had no choice, well, at least that's the story I'm sticking to. Probably should of waited until, I get a new vehicle, but whoever buys my old ride, will have good sounds. Lucky them...
If I had to do it again, I think I would of got a JBL stereo, but live and learn.
Stringray, you sound like you got a good system, with some solid bass. You don't need to go overboard, or it will probably get stolen. I would say, that getting new speakers, even if your car is brand new, might be a good option, if you have a basic system. After market speakers were definitely worth it. It gives a much fuller sound.
