A Shoulder to Lean On

Lord, my friends are few and far between,
But I have You and on Yourself I lean
when times are tough
the going rough
when folks are cruel
when I feel a fool
when I fall down
when life’s a frown
and kids a worry
when I’m in a hurry and all the lights are red…
…when pride grows high
when I can only sigh
and wonder at a world so lost in sin.
I look to You and find
that peace of mind
that sees me through the worst of times.
Lord, I love You!

Nebula (NGC 2818)

Rainbow colour splash
Whispers of astral cirrus
Stretched across the vastness
Gaseous fingers point within
A cosmic drifting amazement
Created by one intelligent Word

Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heaven's made;
and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. KJV

Parousia

lightning streaks across the skies
from east to west
the Son of Man arrives
and all will see
the risen Christ
they’ll know the justice
and the power
and grieve for this is He
descending with a shout
shining with glory within and without
the voice and the trumpet
declare to His dead
time to rise first at last
then the living
caught up
in the clouds, too.
Going Home.

Spaced-out Dream

As I watched within a dream
I gazed in awe and wonder
The indigo hue of approaching dawn,
The sky and I seemed all aglow,
As gods played games of war,
Stars were thrown, sent rolling
Through the lightening dome of sky
Ricocheting sparks of supernovae,
The celestial show lured men to bow...
Then began a chorus of universal notes
Praising Him Who wields the Sword
Who smote their strongholds down.

Thanks.
It's a beautiful gift the Lord's given me & it's a pleasure to share. It bears fruit & I donate them in various ways (the poems).
It's a way to witness to people, comfort & encourage brothers & sisters in Christ & a bit of instruction as well.

The Fall

God created
man sedated
woman made
an error
in judgment
God decreed
the woman’s seed
would crush
the head
of the serpent

God With Us

Before this time began
Before the making of man
God had a plan
For salvation.

The Crux of the matter
of atonement and salvation,
a Babe to be born,
The Prince of Peace.
________

Matthew 1:22 - 23 NASB
2 Now all this took place so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled:
23 “Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they shall name Him Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” (see Isaiah 7:14)

The Peace Rose

In a coal miner's garden
Grandma's rose blossomed
"Peace" it was called
Delicate lemon centre folds
Outer petals tinged with pink
Planted, as thousands of others were,
While world war raged again
A humble king called a Day of Prayer
For the victory
Only God could bring.

Grief

Today I just sit and stare
Out of the window
Today I just don't care
About tomorrow.
My heart is melancholy
My soul downcast with sorrow
I breathe a heavy sigh
And close the curtains.
There'll be no smiles today.
Lord, You hear our prayers unspoken
Please comfort me I'm broken
Since a part of me has gone.

Flashback

A withered leaf swept forth on fear,
Must I remain in memory here?
Recalling times long gone, forgot?
When love was lost and happiness was not
A friend of mine?

Shadows in my mind, painful memories
Like scars upon my soul...
Though looking back good came from that
And Jesus healed my hurt.
Uplifted now I am with Him,
No longer crushed like dirt
Beneath the feet of those who should've loved,
Cared, protected, nurtured.

I'm comforted, maybe they are not,
It's far too late for prayer.

Heavenly Garden

a mist of tiny raindrops
drifts lightly on the breeze
flowers hang their heavy heads
laden with tears of rain

colours when dry muted
with wetness shine and glow
the roses have shed petals
a random mosaic below

Lord, thank You for this garden
where my thoughts are nearest You

I've just had my hair cut & it looks awesome.
Our home hairdresser, bless her, does wonders with my thin mop atop.
She was telling me she played piano, violin, guitar & was in an orchestra doing a concert tonight. She leads the violin section.
Just goes to show the unexpected talents & gifts of people.
It's the same with we Christians in our various secular positions & doings.
Hidden treasures.

Conviction

I've sinned and God has veiled Himself
It seems like He's abandoned me
No-one else can help me to be free
From this sheer misery
I hate to be alone
And not at one with Him
He's searched my heart and found
The pride weed swelling
In the garden of my soul
He holds it up before me
It breaks my heart and I confess my sin
He restores that peace within
And I can smile again
Thanks Lord.

Psalms 139:23-24 NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Childhood is the breakfast of our lives.
Mine was crumbs of dry bread.
Jesus turned it into a banquet.
Thanks Lord.

Pondering

I sometimes think of evil in the world
As I sit upon the sofa curled
The Bible on my knee
And wonder why I could not see
This prevalence within myself,
Surely it must've been
Because I was blinded by my sin
We don't perceive the wickedness within
Until our eyes are opened by the Lord,
Then we grieve to realise
Only He can deal with it
We cannot overcome it on our own
No matter what we do or try.
Seek the Saviour while He may be found
He'll beckon you to meet Him at the Cross
He'll grant repentance and forgive
All the sins you ever live
Then bring about a changed and peaceful mind.

Faith's a "knowing" you're loved & forgiven.
Strangely warmed in Life's winter cold.
