I think it matters what happens to my flesh.,and so does God. He tells us we are the temple of the HolySpirit. We are to glorify Him in our bodies. We are to have our minds renewed and we are to serve Him with these bodies He has blessed us with. God is not out to cause us pain, agony and death. He sent Jesus to redeem us of that. Being a part of this world is what brings tribulation., not God. Be of good cheer!!! Jesus said, He has over come the world!! The death of His saints is not caused by God. He is not out to Zap us so He can get glory. He gets glory when we live for Him.

It is certainly not a trap to believe God is the giver of good things., all good things are from His hand. And when we do go through trials, He is there to get us through to the other side. Without Jesus, we can do nothing. God has given people free will and because of that and the stupid choices people make, we will all be having to deal with tribulations but God delivers His children from them all. Amen.
Ps 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Lu 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

It's all about priorities. Temporal verses eternal.

I've been saved for many years and have always (until recently) thought as the majority of believers do here. But now I see God is the God of the living. He sent Jesus so that we may live and have life more abundantly. The JOY of the Lord is our strength. He gave us ALL THINGS TO USE AND ENJOY. As JESUS is SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD. Is Jesus full of joy now? YES! So am I.
The love of God constrains us not the fear of God. That is old covenant thinking., that is law. They had a reason to fear because their righteousness was based on themselves. But we have the righteousness of Christ. How sad it is when I see so many believers living under the old covenant of law and they have not graduated to the new covenant of grace. Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe.... The unsaved have much to fear because they are condemned already and NEED Jesus righteousness. But WE have it and need to learn to walk in Him.

It's also about where you stand. Are you standing in your own righteousness? OR are you standing in Jesus righteousness?
I'm depending on Jesus and He teaches us how to keep our priorities straight. He gave us the HolySpirit who dwells in us and teaches and guides and comforts us. They did not have the HS in the old covenant. The HolySpirit is EXCLUSIVE under this new covenant of grace. The covenants each have different requirements and many Christians are walking in a covenant that is no longer in effect. Mistakenly believing some how God is pleased by their law keeping.,sacrifices and works. God is pleased when we MAGNIFY HIS SON JESUS., not when we magnify our own works. We are admonished to look away from ourselves and instead 'looking to Jesus the Author and finisher of our faith'

God is not seeking to make our lives a miserable and joyless condition. He wants us to enjoy our families., our relationships with each other., the blessings He so bountifully gives us. He is our Father who richly supplies us so much so that we are overloaded with blessings from His hand. I can honestly say when I tried to gain things and keep things in life by my own hand, my own strategies and religion's harsh monk like existence, it all slipped through my fingers no matter how hard I held on. But when I allowed Jesus to take care of me and be my source for all things., I have not gone without. He is truly faithful and wants to take care of us while we are here and when we get to heaven.

So many of us are trying to secure our lives by ourselves. He gives us the ability to do the things we need to do. He gives us favor so that if we tried to say- get a job on our own, no way would we get hired. But going in His strength., His provision is much better than we could ever have imagined.

Apart from Him we can do nothing., we can get nothing that is lasting. I'm only getting a tiny glimpse of God's provision now while I'm here on earth. And the heart peace He gives now is very much a supernatural thing. I can be secure in all situations because I have seen that He has given the best He has by giving His Son. Why do people think the lesser things here while we are here on earth serving Him will be lacking?? That is religion's teachings. Not the Bible.

We are told that the joy of the Lord is our strength. But so many believers have no joy., only a adherence to a dry and lifeless religious experience that requires them to look at themselves and allllll they can do for Jesus. When in reality we are to look at alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Jesus has done for us and our lives will be lives of thanksgiving and joyful service.

Really? At the risk of opening another can-o-worms, I'll refer you to this thread where I've found that God does indeed strike people for being contrary to Him

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/68168-job-trials-can-you-induce-one.html

Oh my my my. The man is not saved and although you may see him prospering in the world., he has no real joy, nothing lasting or secure. Most importantly he has nothing covering him like you do. You have Jesus. Your friend is open to attack just being in the world.

I've noticed many Jewish people are blessed under the law. God's favor is still on them and they prosper greatly. Anyone could have made up the facebook idea, but who did? a young Jewish kid. We are told to 'provoke them to jealousy' We tell them that their God has blessed us and taken care of us. They are looking at solid evidence that they can see with their eyes., they are earthly minded and the proof is in the pudding sort of speak for them. They are not interested in how you have been 'spiritually peaceful as you are trying to figure out how to pay the next bill. God has blessed His people and as we live infront of them, and they see our lives steadfast and whole, secure and blessed they will be provoked to jealousy.

Again, many Christians think unsaved people will respect our 'spiritual blessings' Abraham had many earthly blessings., God's favor was obvious to his enemies as well as non enemies. Abraham's wife was in her 90s when that heathen king wanted her.
He did not look at her spiritual blessings., the king saw her outer beauty. We can't expect unsaved people to long for spiritual blessings. They don't have a new nature or the HolySpirit.

When they see us calm in the face of death and confusion., when they see our confidence is not in ourselves but on the God who has so blessed us with His watch care and that we are resting in Him, it is then they will seek to have what we have.

I would never pray down hard times on an unbeliever. The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men....
God knows how to get the sheep in. We need to be there when He does.

Willie read the context of what I said...stop looking for things to debate for debates sake.

In context the passage separates believers and non-believers...These people where not believers and thought they could play a game with God and God made a point out of them.
I always go back to Acts 4:32 and read forward to the account of Ananias and Sapphira.

When read that way, it is clear they were NOT of the multitude of them that believed. The moltitude of them that believed laid the price at the feet of the Apostles. But a certain man with Sapphira his wife...

the word "but" separates Ananias and Sapphira from the multitude of them that believed.

That said, I believe you are correct in stating they were unbelievers.

And yet there are several precedents of just that in scripture... shall we rip those pages out of our Bibles because we find them unpalatable?

But their punishment wasn't because of their unbelief, it was because they tried to cheat God

Well, lets look at them then and read them in context. I do not see anywhere in the Bible to pray judgement on the unbeliever. God's judgement is ALREADY on them. Why would you add to their awful burden???

no, it was because they lied to God, not because they were cheating Him.

the 4th chapter says the multitude of them that believed laid the price at the Apostle's feet. I have to go with that. The multitude, the crowd, of believers laid the price at the Apostle's feet. Notice it does not say, 'some of the multitude that believed laid the price at the feet of the Apostle's. No, it states that the multitude of believer's laid the price st the feet.

But a certain man,...No indication that they held any part of the price back.

ananias and Sapphira were not of the "multitude of them that Believed," that much is clear.

Cheat God, lie to God... are they really all that different? They put a portion of their earnings down then said that was all they had. Sounds like a cheat and a lie together.
