"Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!"

KJV 1 Corinthians 15:32-15:34

{15:32}
If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at
Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us
eat and drink; for to morrow we die. {15:33} Be not
deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
{15:34} Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have
not the knowledge of God: I speak [this] to your shame.

Just don't drink or smoke. It don't matter what you smoke, it's damaging your lungs. Alcohol causes the enlargement of the heart, which is worse and more common condition than the liver damage. People die from alcohol because of enlarged hearts.

Smoking causes OSPD, and you will suffer greatly. Weed causes OSPD. So does all those herbs. Black Lung!

DOWN with WEED, DOWN with BOOZE.

They cause mental problems too, both alcohol and weed.

“Worrying” about food and drink, and man-made traditions causes all of those things. Lol
Just enjoy the things He has blessed us with….

It’s best not to add to His word….

By your logic, you’d better not eat either! Lol

You say it's my logic? Just look at medical science, they said it's killing people. Do you really believe I got this from my own imagination? That I assumed it from speculation? And the doctors too, and the medical stuff, who have witnessed the people suffer and die from it? I guess they don't know huh?

Do you always believe all the reports that come out? Over the decades I’ve read many reports purporting bad things will happen, if you consume 100% butter, milk, oils, etc. That was nothing but hype from the politics of that day.
Now, all of that hype got reversed!!

Stop bringing faulty science into this picture!! If the FDA says something is safe, when it clearly isn’t, then you have to make a logical choice…..

Uh huh, God's Word is true and correct and those ignoring God's Word are in trouble already
I don't believe that anyone here is actually an authority in how they represent God's word. There are those though that are more spiritually sound and knowledgeable than others.

Those faulty reports where based on improper way of finding facts. Those errors are not practiced anymore. And, it's true that when you mix sugar with cholesterol, it produces artery plaque.

Also, when they came out with the oil and butter and milk theories, they had no choice but give an answer to the question that was at hand. They where forced to give an answer even though they hand none.

Everyone faught against the tobacco claims, saying it was fake. But the people who died from it have proven it. It's the same with alcohol and other things.

Just keep going with it, when you have done it long enough then you will find out.

That's subjective and dependent upon a person's acceptance of the whole counsel of God along with the level of submission they have to the infilling of the Holy Spirit and for how long, not to mention whether they continually thirst and hunger for righteousness.

I will go along with your estimate in this regard.

Science also says a person can’t be resurrected from the grave. Science also says water can’t be turned into wine. Science also says a paralyzed person can’t instantly miraculously be healed by God.

Science says miracles don’t exist and everything has a physical cause. Science and scripture disagree in many ways. You can choose which part of scripture to trust based off science or you can choose which part of science to trust based off scripture. You choice.

Just FYI, @Brasspen has previously posted about some medical conditions that would make drinking especially dangerous/risky for him personally.

That's why I try not to fight too hard even for moderate consumption, because I know there are many who should avoid it completely.

I personally do not have a susceptibility in that area and I overall agree with what you are saying, but I try to keep in mind those who do not have the same strengths and weaknesses that I have 🙂.

My comments are based on Scripture not whether or not it’s beneficial for everyone. Like food, everyone has a choice, whether or not to eat. Scripture should not be conflated to represent the few/ minority who have problems, for this would be adding to His word.

Definitely. We all have different weaknesses whether it be physical weaknesses in the body or mental weaknesses. I had a mental weakness and drank til I was drunk every time. Alcohol is bad for me because of that weakness while. Others have physical medical issues that makes alcohol bad for them. We are all different. That’s why is comes down to self control in the same way a diabetic has to have self control when it comes down to sugar. Doesn’t mean that no one should eat sugar. Overconsumption of really anything will kill someone. We can actually die from water intoxication if we drink too much water.

I agree with both of you and see your point. I have no problem personally with moderate consumption. I'm just thinking of Romans 14.

But yes, completely agree that it's all about self-control 😎👍

I agree. I never meant to sound harsh on the subject, I was just speaking in defense of His word; we are allowed to drink. Those on the opposite side are speaking in defense of man-made rules, which are not allowed (for this is adding to His word).

I’m aware of those who have problems, and my heart goes out to them, but my issue is with some who seem to be Lording their prohibition over on everyone else. Of course we would never drink/ eat something in front of them, if we know they are weak!
This whole thread should be about what God says about the subject…..

Blessings!
