What makes you think I stop at Acts 4?
After Acts? You think Romans comes after Acts chronologically? That's cute.
Romans through 2 Thessalonians, and Philemon and James, were written significantly before Luke/Acts -- by about 40-50 years. Hebrews and 1 and 2 Peter were written around the same time as Luke/Acts. The only books that were written after Luke/Acts were John's gospel, his 3 letters, and his Revelation. (Some scholars question whether it's the same John on all of those, but they're all later, so for this purpose it doesn't really matter.)
And what kind of church do those books provide? The Roman Catholic Church. Which is a lovely church, but not really my preference. I mean no disrespect to you, if you are Roman Catholic. I like to say I'm "Roamin' Catholic." Not interested in that, thank you.
I'm also curious as to why you believe the canon is complete? Why would God just suddenly stop talking?
Because you are centering in on that example of church when that is only when it started.
Because im not Roman Catholic, a Mormon, a Jehovah Witness, or anyone else who adds to scripture. The canon had a strict guidelines guided by the Holy Spirit.
I quoted Scripture and asked what others thought about it. When you quote one passage of Scripture, does that mean that you think that one section is where Scripture ends? When your pastor does it, does that mean your pastor thinks that's where Scripture ends?
Ah.... is the Bible your guide, or is it the Holy Spirit?
How do you know your revelation from the Holy Spirit is correct, when another person says his or her revelation is also from the Holy Spirit, and contradicts your revelation?
More to the point, why should I believe your version, when you claim to be led by the Holy Spirit, rather than my own, which comes from the Holy Spirit and says that yours is wrong?
Especially when your revelation is self-contradictory, claiming that you can't go outside of Scripture for revelation, yet you go outside of Scripture for that very revelation.
It will only work in a theocracy. No government of man will ever function on a completely benevolent basis. Fallen mankind can only produce fallen societies.

I said the canon came together in a delicate but strict process that was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
I didn't say the Bible is the only way God speaks. God speaks through nature, through the Bible, prayer, other believers but to add to the Bible is heretical.
Either the canon is closed or it isn't.
If the canon is closed, that means there are no new revelations. Not in nature, not in prayer, not in other believers. Nowhere.
If you believe that god can speak through nature, prayer, or other believers, then you believe that the canon is not closed.
You can't have it both ways. Pick a doctrine and own it.

I've only seen it work in Christian communities. I've read fiction about it working in non-Christian settings, but those are all fiction, as far as I know.

Actually the Bible tells us of these revelations so yes it is closed. I can defend this with scripture as to how God speaks to us.
What are you? A child? Just state your point and move on.

Ok, well she probably has me on ignore but there have been all kinds of communities like this. I haven't seen any succeed. In my state we have the history of the Shakers, you can go and visit their property and buildings they lived in. Know of course for making furniture. They have died out. They had a strict policy of no sexual relations for married people, men and women lived separately on the property. If you were married you came to the village and lived in separate quarters so sex was over for you. With no way to have new converts raised in the faith they died out years ago.
New Harmony, also not far from me but I haven't been able to see yet, is another communal society gone defunct. Known as Harmonists they were a break away from the Lutherans. They had three colonies in the US, two in Pa and one in In. They too were celibate and the whole concept died off in the early 1900s.
If you ever get a chance to visit Shaker Village, make sure you put it on your to do list. I have endless pictures of my family there. Gorgeous place to take photos. This past fall was just beautiful and my sister and her boys visited. We take all our visitors from home (Canada) here.
