Is the onus on us or God? The passage indicates action from both parties.

I suspect that might both have had better ideas if they had talked with one another, after all, salvation has past, present and future aspects…

Most advice given if someone you know is suicidal is talk to them, distract them and they wont carry it out. I think most suicidal people are alone/by themselves when it happens.

People on suicide watch the best thing you could do is hold them close ie. hug them. It usually calms them down. If you cant be there 24/7 to someone the next best thing is a companion animal.

suicidal thoughts are not from God, the person having them needs to cast all their cares to God. i.e talk to God, pray. Then one day at a time. Many suicidal people are afraid, afraid of the future. thats why they want to end their lives sooner than whatver time God has appointed, which we dont always know of course. If we DO know we need to accept it (Jesus knew when he was going to die, and prepared, but didnt know the exact day or hour until 3 days before, and he asked his disciples to pray)

That would've been quite difficult as Calvin was long dead before Arminus was capable of debate.

I believe and trust in the Atonement of the LORD too.... but, unlike you, I read the rest of God's Word and have seen His warnings to Christians that OSAS is false doctrine... such as what Jesus said in John 15 that those who do not abide IN Him baring fruit, are cut off and thrown in to the fire.

So, unlike the OSAS peoples... I don't go around spreading the lie that it's not possible to lose one's salvation which DOES cause many to believe it's OK to go ahead and live in sin.

If you believe OSAS is true... then you cannot tell anybody it's wrong to live in sin because if you do that you are admitting that OSAS is false doctrine... which is something the OSAS people have been brainwashed by the devil to never say.

Galatians 6:7-8 (see Gen 8:22)
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

God gave man free will... if man chooses to turn and walk away from the Lord, God will let them do so.

they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do what ought not to be done

The gifts and callings of God are without repentance which means God cannot violate our free will and save us anyway IF we choose to go back to our sin which is living in darkness. In God there is NO darkness. (1 John 1:5)

This is a major biblical truth the OSAS crowd always explains away or denies is simply this... God is NOT mocked, what we sow is what we reap - if we sow to the flesh we shall of the flesh reap corruption. (Gal 6:7,8)

If one claims we DO reap corruption when we sin, then they are admitting they do not believe OSAS / Eternal security doctrine (and sadly many of their friends will forsake them!).... and if one claims we DO NOT reap what we sow, then according to Gal 6:7, that would be mocking God!

Surely you wouldn't mock God... would you???

Adam and Eve were given eternal life by the Lord when He created them... but when they sinned against God they became corrupt and died spiritually and became separated from God. So Gal 6:7,8 is quite the quandary, quite the state of uncertainty and perplexity for the adherents of OSAS doctrine.

God's discipline soon brings me back to Him at the slightest sin.
The Holy Spirit convicts me.

That's how we should live... being sensitive to the Holy Spirit... who will actually warn us before we sin if we are in tune with Him, so we don't do the sin!

He'll even show you the traps the devil is setting up for you before hand so you'll know to walk around them!

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Of course accepting and continually feeding upon the whole counsel of God is very much needed which the Holy Spirit will remind us of so we are continually feeding on God's Word.

I would like to publicly recant and repent about calling you a fool... while the dictionary description of "fool" fits you to a "t", I should not have called you that.

I should have said you are ignorant of life, and mental illnesses, and there is no milk of human kindness in you. Your pious insistence on damning believers to hell is indicative of your hateful, prideful spirit. I believe "idiot" is a better descriptive term for your claims and behavior.

I agree.
It's taking time.
I'm growing in Christ, learning to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings & warnings.
I've only trusted Christ for a few years, so I've a lot of maturing to do.
I still make mistakes and sin. I'm developing self-control, a fruit of the Spirit.
Conviction brings me to confess & I'm forgiven. I'm in Christ, I won't be condemned.
No way do I have freedom to live in sin. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There's no such thing as instant maturity.
