Okay, this came to my mind.. because once again someone started to talk to me about the Olympics and our teams etc.. about winning a medal.. and I had no idea, because I simply do not watch any sports. :p

Onetime a guy at our game (I play volleyball as a hobby), suddenly started to explain to me about some player and how he did and could have done.. there where volleyball games somewhere in the world, that he obviously thought I had watched it too.

There maybe something wrong with me but I am not interested in watching sports. And I rather keep it that way
If I had to watch, it would be figure skating and perhaps volleyball. If someone would drag me, then hockey..

ALL of my coworkers watch and follow sports. One year I had a radio near my work station blasting to my ear (that someone had put on.. sports), my coworker popped around the corner asked me quite often what was the score.. man, just take the radio... :D

Back in the day, my grandma used to watch skiing every winter and as we had no TV of our own, we (mostly just I) as a kid went to our grandma's home to watch Saturday morning cartoons. Oh the horror it was when the sport season was on, that meant no cartoons!

My best friend said her husband makes her watch hockey.. but she is quite invested in it anyway and then complains that she didn't get enough sleep

So I am quite interested in knowing who will win this cup, and which side you are on? :)

I do not care about sports on TV. In fact, I do not even own a TV. There are many more interesting things to do than watch television.

While I am not interested in watching sports, I do like to get some exercise myself. Today I went for a walk outside, and then I did some pull-ups, push-ups, and sit-ups.

Oh wow, to me it seems super rare to find out that someone does not care about watching sports! :D Yay!

I love the Olympics , I was quite good at athletics when I was young . I can't watch cricket or league football or rugby . I love MotoGP but don't watch it live any more because of fatal accidents , I watch it replayed . Enjoy watching tennis also . I do admire the dedication and determination of sports people to try to b the best that they can b . My fastest 100 meter time was 12-2 seconds , I used to also run the hurdles and throw the discus for my county .

Other: I was a youth sports official for 10 years. It got worse every year. In the end I told them I'd rather spend a weekend in a North Korean prison.

My nephews work as referees in all the sports and events they participate in.

It's unnerving having to hear all the grown adults constantly yelling at them, and they're just kids -- this is why I usually don't go.

It's going to make them as resilient as bullet-proof glass, I'm sure, but I do worry about their mental health.

Awesome thread and poll, Tazzo!

I'll catch parts of a game if someone has it on, and I do like some of the routines at the Olympics (gymnastics and figure skating in particular.)

But I've never liked the ugliness of sports, the "winning is all that matters" mentality. and now that I've listened to several videos about the sports betting epidemic (with players, coaches, and owners rigging the games,) I've lost any interest I might have had.

I think sports are great if used for personal enjoyment, exercise, and fellowship -- but when it crosses the line where winning, fame, and money are all that counts, I have to throw in the towel.

I taught two of my kids to officiate. They did learn some good life skills, but eventually got tired of it as well. They're clear they'd never go back to it.

I don't watch TV either. I get my news online. Do a lot of reading.

I'm not into sports, only watch if someone else is watching and forced to or have nothing else to do.
Olympics are happening but at most I would only check out the opening ceremonies and maybe gymnastics or ice skating, or swimming, if anyone from NZ is competing.

Never cared for rugby, which nzers are crazy over. I would watch netball at a pinch but never on my own. Cricket, I can sometimes keep up with but only cos my Dad watches it.

I tend to tune out when people talk about sports, scores etc.

I'm not an athlete, I don't watch sports, but I don't mind some sports. I'm open to learning about a few sports as I do enjoy exploring new hobbies or possible new interests. I can naively appreciate and acknowledge if I see something cool from a sport, such as someone running like a super-human or a cool stunt, I can become fascinated by their actions. I also think it can be fun to have favorite participants/teams to root for. I however, can't join in much when sports are taken too seriously. I just can't match the vibes of crazy spectators or extreme hype of teams and rivals.

Me too, I don't follow any teams and never became a football or basketball fan. It's a long story why, but one of the reasons was that my parents divorced when I was young and the multiple baseball and basketball practices every week was a burden on my already over burdened Mom.

My Dad represented the US Army in Boxing. I've never seen a YouTube video after all these years of anyone who was nearly as skilled on the speed bag as my Dad. He got me interested as a little boy and said he'd train me to box if I promise to never compete. He told me that it causes brain damage and he was right. Dad enrolled me in a good martial arts school at an early age.
I eventually became a teacher in multiple arts. It's the most practical fitness program because you develop skill sets to help protect others.

The Lord was with me all along the way. I honored my Dad by staying out of the ring and only sparing with other black belts. That was the best thing because I wasn't really ego driven to win trophies or prestige. I was into self defense ever since my Mom's second husband tried to kill me and my Mom.

We think he had a demon.
Then for years those devils kept trying to take my life. They seem to have seen me as a threat to them, so they possessed some local top athletes to try to kill me. It was always very bizarre because I was just a normal middle class guy who stayed out of trouble.

Looking back it's pretty awesome that the damned demons and bad guys attacked me numerous times. It proved to me several things.
A. The Martial Art and Fitness System that I developed by God's grace was tested and actually worked many times in real life for my students and me.
Unlike the popular sports arts, that are against single competitors of equal size, experience and rules with a referee to step in to avoid injury, life is different. There are no rules or referees. Weapons like guns, kitchen knives, clubs, eye gouges, sucker punches, gangs/multiple opponents are the opposition. They attack by surprise and put all the odds in their favor. The ones who are possessed have super human strength and no governor, no pain threshold. They fight extremely vicious and brutally. This makes competitive sports arts a non issue for me. I've always been enthusiastic about strengthening the underdogs, the women and youth. Like This Hebrews chapter 11:32-34 KJV
B. I've not been the invincible athlete. I've been humbled by injuries enough to know my weakness. God spared my life dozens of times. At times It's been a real life action movie. I have so many reasons to love my Holy Heavenly Father. He spared my life so many times, it's hard to remember. He answered prayers with amazing miracles. He gave me a lifetime fitness program. I'm once again recovering from demonic attacks but surely healing and getting stronger with God's help. He is my strength indeed.

" 7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV

The teams I keep up with are ..
College football - Alabama
Soccer/Football - Arsenal, Wrexham, and Atlanta United.

I think I'm more interested in Soccer than anything else. I do not center my day around it though. If I have other things going on, the game can wait or I can watch the highlights later.

I don't watch sports either. I find it totally boring! I can't relate to it at all and have better things to do, even on TV. Why should I watch other people play sports? I'd rather do something myself.

I always find it awful when it's the European Championship or World Cup. Everyone goes crazy. Just because 20 men run after a round piece of leather for an hour and a half? ;) Sorry, I hope I'm not offending anyone here, but I can't understand this euphoria. I'm sure there are also many people who watch the Olympics or ski races at the moment, and they don't go crazy about that. So it is possible.

Ski races are also popular here, but I don't watch those either; I prefer to go skiing myself. :)

Yea those who can, do.
Those who can't...watch other people do it? I dunno.

It's not like watching cricket or whatever will help me play cricket. And I'm not betting on who wins.

Yes, that 'winning is everything' is not hitting with me either.. Many (at least guys at volleyball) to be wired that way. They (of course there are chill guys too) get mad and you can see it in their faces if someone DARES to make a mistake or when the team loses. They also try to "boost" us, 'okay, now let's do it!!! Now we have to do it!!', for me it makes everything more worse  And we play just for fun... I wish I could find some cozy retirees group to play with.

And nowadays even kids hobbies are all about racing, competing and winning.. Hobbies should be for fun (of course there always are few that want to compete, but surely not all) and also not cost a ton, which they do because of the competing element.. Ice hockey, kids used to play on outdoor ice rink back in the day, for fun.. now ice hockey is more like: pay much so you can compete and winning is the goal.
