Are you the type to eat dinner as it's cooking? maybe because you are in a hurry or just hungry. do you pick at the food a little bit? Or do you totally wait til all the food is ready? i like to eat in a hurry & move along to the next event so i'm eating anything i can the doesn't have to be cooked like salad, beans, bread, fruit, olives, or oysters, shrimp, lobster, crab legs, ( already made at the market ), etc. .

I wait till the food is cooked, and then practice mindful eating.

I tend to eat in a hurry too. Usually, eating food is like a necessary task for me, a matter of survival. Afterwards, I move on to the next task at hand.

Eventually, I call it a day and go off duty, chill out on the couch and read or sit on the porch and watch the birds and squirrels eat the food that I provide. I tend to short-change myself on the relaxing bit.

Actually, don't really know how to relax given the time restraints I put on myself for any given activity.

Yeah, I'm in a hurry and don't know why. My late father-in-law once asked me why I do the things that I do. I said "Dad. I don't know. I'm not a psychiatrist".

Time to move on to the next task.

Food should be masticated. With that said, I inhale it and a lot of times while still on moving on my feet. And sometimes, this causes me to have to stop, and be still, to make sure I'm not about to die from choking on a chomp. Food is a lot like the Word; it should be broken down into smaller pieces to aid digestion. And, like food, the table is designed to be shared and provides ideal time for table talk. We should take in table talk just as should carefully chew our food. No, "how was your day?" followed by "yada yada yada" but more like, "tell me all the details that I might discern the salt or the pepper of it, and take opportunity to relish that."
Of course, that not saying that I always practice that which I should.

I'm big on breakfast, myself. Not so much on supper. I will eat a sandwich for lunch, usually nothing for supper, or maybe a honey bun or a bowl of pudding a couple hours after I get home from my job.

I can't run on nothing all day. I tank up for the day in the morning. By the time night gets here I'm ready to sleep, not eat.

Taking the time to absorb the salt or the pepper details could be key in maintaining a healthy relationship. I like how to put it a lot and going to give the concept considerable thought on how to best put that into practice. Your whole post contained a lot of good and useful things worthy of consideration of merit.
