Repentance actually means to turn from evil, and do what is good as the man Christ Jesus did good by the Spirit.
And it is a requirement.
2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
And there is no excuse, for if a person hates sin, and does not want sin, by the Spirit they can abstain from sin, and those that are led of the Spirit displaying the ways of the Spirit, and not the flesh, are the ones that are not under the law.
2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Those that do not repent are under the law, for they hold unto sin and think they are right with God.
Which is the people that say they cannot abstain from sin, and sin does not affect their relationship with God.
God said turn away from those people, for they do not represent Christ but are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, and a little leaven leavens the whole lump.
It is true we have to repent, which means turn away from sins, and be led of the Spirit abstaining from sins, and showing love.
Which Paul said love does not think and evil thought, and does not sin by the Spirit.
So why do they say they cannot abstain from sins.
You have to remember when debating with people that have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, for they sin and think they are alright with God, for they are ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
So do not expect to see any results of your posting to them, for they hold unto some fleshy ways, and say they cannot beat it.
Which is strange because the world will abstain from the sins they do not like, and some have kicked the habit of drugs, stopped cheating on their wife, and other sins for the rest of their lives.
And some that confess Christ say they cannot abstain from sins despite the Spirit being given to the saints, where the world cannot have the Spirit but yet they beat some sins they used to do.
