Daniel 9:25
Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time.

In the times of Yeshua/Jesus, even tho the Romans were in their land Israel was well endowed and prospered. They had Jerusalem and the Temple. They ate and drank, married and given in marriage, planted and harvested, bought and sold and had unhinged travel in the Roman Empire. It was a good time to be living in Israel when Jesus walked the earth, unlike the current events which Daniel said the 62 weeks would be in a troubled time.

The covenant with many ( Dan. 9:27 ) is approaching containing 7 years. What I want to share here is the turmoil and chaos that is soon to come. If I asked you who is Israel's greatest friend in this world is, most would say America, With Trump coming president even more so. A calamity is forthcoming to change the world to allow another to replace America and to make the covenant with many including Israel.

You don't think the time from the resurrection until Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed was a time of turmoil?

Really? Are people being burned as human candles or fed to lions? What about all the curses that resulted from not keeping the covenant? What could be worse than being in covenant with God and losing that relationship?

My thoughts:

Daniel 9:

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

In the last part of verse 25, "troublous times" is referring to the time of the building of the wall and the city.

It is not a description of the 62 weeks. Daniel did not say that the 62 weeks would be in a troubled time.

Read Nehemiah 4.

No part of verse 25 is referring to anything in our future.

(No part of the passage is referring to anything in our future. It is all in the past.)

Do we think the 70 weeks are consecutive?
------------------------------------
No, I do not. The 7 weeks I see during the times of Jesus but the last week and 62 weeks are semi-connected and are still in the future

For the 7 weeks I do see as during the times of Jesus. A Passover was coming when Jesus got into a discussion with the Pharisees and they said it has taken us 46 years to build this temple. Add 3 years of his ministry and we got 49 years.

This prophecy was fulfilled nearly 2000 years ago with the establishment of the new covenant and the cutting off and resurrection of messiah that brought in everlasting righteousness

Daniel was speaking of what happened to Jerusalem after Jesus was killed raised and ascended

“And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭9:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:12-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It might help in understanding Daniel 9:26 to know that there is a 'the' before 'threescore and two weeks ' in both the Hebrew and Greek. So it's saying that after the 62-week period, which occurs after the 7-week period, Messiah will be cut off, which would be during the 70th week. In the next verse it says he will be cut off in the midst of that 7-year period, which does correlate with his approximately 3-year ministry. His apostles confirmed the new covenant for the remaining 3 years of that 7-year period.

Do you really believe we are living in the times of everlasting righteousness? or the end of sin?
Absolutely. However, you're making the assumption that those verses pertain to the state of the world. They do not, Everything in this verse was accomplished at the cross and resurrection.

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Daniel 9:24
