As a taxpayer I sure am not happy seeing videos of people ranting that the gov't owes them 700+ and if they don't get it they will simply take it.

EVERYTHING is prophesied, well, just about. only the right prophesies are remembered though. its called memory bias.
 
Back in the Dark Ages when I was in college there was a sociological theorem that was widely taught and generally accepted. This theorem stated that the original goals of any organization will eventually lead to opposite results. For example, if an organizational goal is to produce the worlds best hot dog, it will eventually produce the worlds worst hot dog. (General Mills stands as proof). I have found this theorem to be sound and consistent and is especially apparent in government.

SNAP was originally a program to feed hungry people, now t is a partisan tool to buy votes, hungry people be damned.

I think everybody being dependent on the government is a necessary step to bring about the end of days. God is behind it, but God is letting evil do it. Evil thinks it is winning, but God's will is still being done.

As for the current government shutdown, that's just bipartisan brinksmanship. Both parties are spoiled brats who want to have their own way, and don't really care about the people they are supposed to be serving. They will get over it, pass or not pass the current bill they are arguing about, and continue on until the next time they try to use a government shutdown to force the other party to give them what they want.

As for the role of the church in welfare matters, I honestly don't believe you're going to see that reversion you are wanting to see. I could be wrong (I often am, but I survive) but I think that is part of what I believe God is allowing to happen as an end-of-time element.

I like that, "God working all things for our good." and all that. Personally, I think this will involve bringing more families together like "turning the hearts of the fathers to their sons, etc."

The Cleveland Browns are 2-6 and ranked 4th in the AFC North so everything seems relatively normal.

With the shutdown there are no snap for anyone right now.
 
@enril 2000+ for food, I mean, what's the cost of living there? Surely I can get some good food for $300.00 a month!

What are they doing? Punishing those who work?

Living in the United States, we are experiencing one of, if not the, longest government shutdowns in our history. Over the course of several decades, we have watched the government take on the responsibility of meeting needs in our communities, which on its face seems like a very good and useful thing. However, the unfortunate reality is that many of these programs were created and historically met by the church for hundreds of years. What I'm proposing is that maybe one way Yahweh is using this shutdown is to tell the church that it is now her time to step back into her proper place. Everything from food pantries and community kitchens to orphanages and adoption agencies should be provided by the local church to serve their communities and promote human flourishing and dignity among the people they serve.

That is the essence of my thinking. The short version at least. I am open to any and all thoughts.

Im from New Zealand. But what you are saying is s great way for the Church to respond to the needs of its community they live in.Not only helping church members but others in the community.
