I lived in Barre during this flood, but the Winooski also flows through Barre, so we got flooding also but not as bad as Montpelier did. Montpelier is surrounded on all sides by the Winooski river.

Ah it must have been difficult :/ Has it flooded at least half as bad since?

Not the entire city, no.. See, we get the water and ice from other towns, so in addition to our own, it was too much and the entire town flooded. Main St. and State St. are full of shops that have merchandise in their basements so everything got ruined. Montpelier (and Barre) suffered great financial loss. I cringe every time it rains super hard, because the river out back floods and gets into our basement, where all the electrical stuff is.. I've had to evac 3 times because of flooding, and twice because of the rock ledge across the road which has come down.. I'll post pictures of that later..

It's a miracle that no one was walking or driving by when these rockslides happened. They would've been killed.

I can't wait for my puppy...when fishing is horrible like today..then it will shift over to puppy play time..and to the park!! ;)
