Okay, new set of 5 Questions and a new theme:
1. What one food describes your life as a single person and why?
2. If you were to make dishes for 2 CC friends, who would it be, what would you call the the dishes, and what would they be made of (Ex. Jonathan1977, chocolate pie in a Jar-Jar, oreo crust in bottom of pint mason jar topped with chocolate mousse, whipped cream, and shaved chocolate)?
3. What is a food or food combo you loved as a kid but find repulsive as an adult?
4. What is the best restaurant you have ever been to and why?
5. What is the most obscure/unique food item that you have ever eaten?
1) How about the pumpkin pie my roomie made for our first thanksgiving here. It was a microwave recipe because we didn't have an oven, but we also didn't have a lot of the ingredients listed in the recipe, so she evaporated her own evaporated milk, mixed up her own bisquick, realized that although we didn't have US style pumpkin the squash here would work just as well. Something about improvising around all of the obstacles. This is how it turned out by the way:
2) Let's see I suppose we could do a Pipperoni cake, which would look something like a cross between a cake and a pizza but mostly just be a very generous serving of bread dough with savory ingredients including pepperoni. And crunchy wandering gypsy tacos, a low carb tortilla rolled around crisp vegetables perfect for eating on the go.
3) For the most part things are going the other way around, there is stuff I didn't think I liked as a kid but now I'm trying some new things and finding out they aren't that bad. I did have a ramen noodle phase where I really liked them and now they aren't very appetizing to me though I will still eat them.
4) The carnivore in Nairobi Kenya. It's an all you can eat place that specializes in grilled African game meat (gazelle, ostrictch, zebra, crocodile, etc.). they bring around skewers of meat to the table and ask who wants some of this or that and that continues until you lower your flag as a sign of surrender because everyone at the table is full, then they bring you coffee and deserts.
5) Between eel, lion jerky, freshly grilled goat intestine, duck blood soup (that was an unintentional one), and bear pastrami I'm having kind of a tough time choosing. Maybe I should let you guys vote on which is weirder. Oh and dog and embryonic duck eggs could be in the near future. And I haven't even mentioned weird ice cream flavors like young green rice or taro.
