Is the local church a closed, self-contained unit, unopened ti outsiders, or is it a base, an outpost, a beacon of light, open to outsiders for the purpose of reaching out and saving lost souls?

The bible says "sons of God", not angels. That's an entirely different thing as well as another confusing subject. Note too "the sons of God" terminology is also found in Job. The "sons of God" must have been fleshly beings from who knows where.
