I think obedience to God's instructions are very important, whether in the Old Testament or New. Does obedience to those thing impact my salvation? No. But walking within God's blessing brings a natural blessing in itself.

I'm still waiting for the verses where God (or Jesus for that matter) says to take pagan worship days and try to redeem them for Him, knowing full well they're not even the correct dates of the events which we're celebrating.

He lived according to the physical Torah, but also a greather and deeper understanding of Torah. Both are possible and encouraged with the Holy Spirit's guidance.
