    About Tithing

Tithing is not giving, and giving financially is not biblical tithing. They are different things completely. Conflating them only brings confusion. Tithing is required under the Mosaic law, but Christians are not under the law. Rejecting false teaching about tithing has absolutely nothing to...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I use the KJV on my phone… but what would be the issue if I didn’t use it at all?

Holy Reverence and the 'man Upstairs'?

Another perspective: I would generally suspect that a person using the phrase, “the man upstairs” either is a respectful unbeliever or is just using an alternative term for God. Granted, it’s not a biblical term, and people may misinterpret it, but I don’t think anyone is going to base their...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I use NIV, ESV, NASB most often. I have a NET that I plan to read through once I'm done the ESV. I have the KJV on my phone only because YouVersion refuses to download anything else.

Holy Reverence and the 'man Upstairs'?

I don't think "the Man upstairs" is in the least derogatory. Jesus is a man. He ascended into heaven. What's derogatory about that? Does it encompass the fullness of His glory? No. Does "Our Father in heaven" encompass the fullness of His glory? No. There's no need to pick nits, and there's no...

Holy Reverence and the 'man Upstairs'?

I just wonder why we criticize the world's references to God. Let us rather rejoice that they acknowledge Him at all, and pray for greater revelation leading to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 2:25).

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

    I use several translations.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

To which "earliest translations" are you referring? The Septuagint? Coptic? Latin?

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

If you honestly think that's all there is to the gospel, you haven't been understanding your Bible.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Repeating a twisted version of the story is not going to convince me.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Quoting and showing resources is irrelevant when one carefully curates those resources, omitting information that contradicts the premise. I have said nothing about modern translations being better; don’t make baseless assumptions. Your last comment is silly. The source material for modern...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

No, it’s not a good commentary. Rather, it’s a heavily biased argument carefully crafted to obscure the whole truth while highlighting whatever negative aspects can be found. It’s a perfect example of double standards among KJV-only proponents. You’re free to believe whatever you like, but...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Is that what I said? No. Is that what I implied? No. Is that what your stubborn KJV-only mind wants to believe I said? Obviously. Get some integrity.

    Concerning the gift of tongues

The Holy Spirit gave the gift of tongues in Acts 2 so that the disciples could speak in the hearers' languages. He gave tongues in Acts 10 to confirm that the Gentiles had received the Holy Spirit. He continues to give tongues for several reasons, including edification of the Church and the...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

If an "artificial, never-before-seen Greek text" is a problem, then your Scrivener Textus Receptus is a problem too.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

It's unfortunate that you characterize your position as "faith" and "believe what the Bible says" as though people who hold a different position don't employ faith or "believe what the Bible says". It indicates an underlying arrogance on your part, a belief in the moral superiority of your...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I'll grant that... for the nineteenth century. Because the language of the KJV is sufficiently unfamiliar to modern English speakers, it is unreasonable to believe the KJV should be the standard today. The gospel is challenging enough without throwing a language barrier in the way.

AS CHRISTIANS, DO WE HAVE TO GO TO CHURCH?

As Christians, we are the Church. More specifically, Hebrews 10:25 tells us not to give up meeting together, and the implication is that regular meeting with other Christian believers for teaching, worship, prayer and fellowship is strongly encouraged. As a Christian, why would you avoid this?

AS CHRISTIANS, DO WE HAVE TO GO TO CHURCH?

Nor should you tithe even if you do attend a church. Tithing is not taught to Christians anywhere in Scripture. :) You may, of course, be using "tithe" to represent "give of your finances"; many Christians make this mistake. Just use the words "offering" or "giving" to avoid the confusion.
