You keep making illogical conclusions. The last statement there is not a logical conclusion based on that statements that come before it. If a linguist doesn't have any meaning to attach a language he hears to, he's not going to be able to decipher it. Paul mentioned speaking in the tongues of...

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

If no one knows a human without clues, a linguist wouldn't be able to decipher it. The Rosetta stone combined with study of Coptic lead to cracking ancient Egyptian. We can't interpret a language we don't know on the fly. And how would we know an angelic language? No one knows the language...

I'll ask you again. This is human language right here. You are a human. Without looking online for a translation, tell me what it says, "Kenapa anda perlu penejermah atau penafsir kalau anda manusia?" You might be able to get an AI translator if it is typed in. But if someone just said...

I'd add that the surrounding context of that verse is about praying in tongues.

God's ways are above my ways. But they are above your ways, too, right? The Bible says 'Come let us reason together' so reasoning, and posting stuff that actually makes sense is okay, isn't it? I'm following what the Bible says, interpreting the Bible, and as far as what the idea of speaking...

This concerns me. Maybe you should preach and teach in some other content area. I haven't been teaching the Bible as long as you have, not in any kind of formal setting, just since my mid-20s. I spent time studying and learning before I started. I also preach and teach free of charge, and I...

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

Your just typing in words here. Let's stick with what the Bible teaches. Why don't we look at I Corinthians 14.

I think you could benefit from some in-depth studies. I've studied the Bible for 40 years. I memorized Romans and I Corinthians in the KJV when I was younger, the books that contain the passages we are talking about. I've done word studies on the Greek words used and took a semester of Greek...

Btw, someone I know heard a European who did not know English speak in KJV English when he spoke in tongues. Isn't that a dialect?

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

We are talking about speaking in tongues. You do hear dialects in utterances. Utterances are things spoken. Utter means speak. The word translated 'which cannot be uttered' means cannot be spoken. Compare it to the word used for 'speak' in 'speak in tongues' in Greek.

What does your theory have to do with the teaching on the subject of the Bible. Since it is human language, tell me what I wrote earlier means, and then tell me what dialect it is in. I can tell what dialect that is from. Where does the Bible say speaking in tongues has 'no dialect.' Acts...

Without using Google translate, interpret this: "Inang tua itu makan daging a dua.' It's a human language. If someone spoke it, you should be able to interpret it. Non sequitur. If no one. IN THE CHURCH understands the language, then it needs to be interpreted to edify others.

That fits I Corinthians 14 a lot better than these newer interpretations. I also read about that very thing happening at Azusa Street, except a Russian came in and understood the tongue. I don't remember if the individual understood the interpretation in that case. It was in 'Fire on Azusa'...

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

I'm wondering where you get this, and how this doctrine evolved. I grew up Pentecostal and I've read a bit about the early years of the movement, the Azusa Street Revival. The newsletter from the revival related testimonies of people hearing 'tongues' in their own language. Vinson Synan, the...

But if you look just prior to that, it clarifies what was going on. Acts 2 NKJV 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not...

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

Paul contrasts praying in tongues with praying with his mind, so apparently he did not understand it. But what he spoke were tongues/languages.

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

Speaking in tongues means speaking in languages. Greek used the word for 'tongue' to refer to language. Paul even describes it 'speak in the tongues of men and of angels' in I Corinthians 13.

Is Speaking in Tongues still available today?

I did not see how the information you have presented supports the conclusion you draw in that last sentence. Speaking in tongues means speaking in languages. It's in the meaning of the words used in the Bible. now if those in cordelia's house spoken some foreign language that Peter or his...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Yeah, thou also needest to remember that the joy of the Lord is thy strength. Thou also shouldst seek the joy of the Lord. Thou also needest warmth in thine heart.

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

You posted a link to that when I was under deadlines at work, and I meant to respond. Point 1--- that's obviously the wrong interpretation. If you were a Calvinist, I would point out that John Calvin called your interpretation stupid. :) That is the idea that the perfect comes before the...
