    Midnight Confessions

Magenta, I am so sorry to hear about the cancer. I will pray for you and I thank you for sharing. It also speaks to your character that you'd take the time to praise God and share this encouragement while you are in a time of crisis. God bless you sister.

    The Judging Thread

There is an important distinction between judging and using good judgement. A great truth about the first is that criticizing others is a dishonest way of praising yourself (not my original words but a favourite truth). The second employs wisdom.

Can a Christian be Emotionally Unavailable?

Years ago I learned that some people prefer power to intimacy. By withholding connection, praise, approval etc. they maintain control over the other person. I met a woman who was hiding her drinking. She confessed that in her 20 plus years of marriage, her husband had never once said she looked...

Christian Dating in the Digital Age

Hi Bryan. Why does your profile say that you are a female? Also it is not recommended to post your email here. This is not a dating site and it might be a bit premature to propose, lol.

Was there a gate called "the eye of a needle"

I agree with all of this. I have seen video of a camel doing this but it takes a very skilled handler and well trained and amiable camel, to make it happen. I also agree that there is a lot of dispute as to whether the eye of the needle was an actual gate or that it was more of a common way of...

Was there a gate called "the eye of a needle"

When the larger city gates were closed for the night, the only way to enter was through a much smaller gate. A camel could only enter if it was down on its knees and its baggage removed. To equate it to a modern sewing needle would be to change the meaning of the verse, with one being difficult...

Pray for my Grandson and family.

I am so sorry for what your grandson is going through and I pray that he is safe and protected from Covid. Asthma is so scary as well. I pray that God will protect his lungs and help him to be calm. Hugs to him, bless him. I'll pray for his friend and his friend's family.

Lol. So many people started making sourdough bread when they were self-isolating. You make a starter for the bread that you feed regularly. I tried for a while and mine went crazy lol. Sourdough bread tastes so good but the smell of the starter is strong. I did love the picture of the bird.

Would you ask your future spouse to sign a prenup?? (Poll)

I understand that the image of a pre-nup is about trust but what if it is about clarity? In the case of a second marriage when there are children from the first, you may both want to designate certain things to them, and/or ensure that your property is secure. I know it seems like a will should...

Does "loving God" include my works or just how I feel?

Love is a verb. "If you love me, feed my sheep." He knew that we are good with feelings and giving lip service to our feelings but our actions prove the truth of the things we say. As has been said, the two need to co-exist. God searches the attitudes of our heart and our actions prove the...

How does Jesus' suffering on the cross compare to an eternity in Hell?

I think you are speaking to my point. Our understanding doesn't make sense in light of the character of God. I do not believe he tosses children into fire and sulfur. In some ancient religions the sacrifice of children, to appease an angry god did exist, and God (according to the bible) called...

    Hard to admit loneliness?

I hear you. I miss having someone who knows what makes me laugh, who understands what things mean when I say them. I miss being able to care about what happens in their day and being the one who can make them laugh, and being their safe harbour in the storm. Yes Jesus is with us, but I miss...

How does Jesus' suffering on the cross compare to an eternity in Hell?

I think that our understanding is very limited. In Corinthians they talk about seeing through a glass dimly. There are things that seem unjust and leave us confused. What I go back to, are the few things I know. I know that God is love. I know that God is just. I know that God is holy and...
