The plain meaning of verse 41 is that the ones who gladly received and were baptized are the same the 3,000. But clearly the city would have been filled with hundreds of thousands of Jews the day of Pentecost.

I believed God existed. I hadn't believed into the Lord Jesus Christ. I knew things about God, but I didn't know Him personally and intimately.

It's a simple question: did anyone who did not gladly receive the sermon get baptized? The text says that those who gladly received were baptized. We know that the total number saved was 3,000. Out of the 3,000, were any other than those who gladly received and were baptized? In other words...

Sure I believe God was already at work in me, both changing my heart and drawing me to Himself, before I realized what was taking place. In fact, I didn't realize what had transpired until I began reading scripture. What I was sure of was I was a sinner and needed to have the burden of my sins...

I missed it. Lots of posts today. I was the 4th soil at the point of my conversion. Had I been a different soil, the outcome would have been different.

Of course they didn't. Only those who gladly received got baptized. To disagree with such a statement merely shows the absurd lengths to which people go to in order to maintain their bias.

It's a good analogy, but we may or may not have hit somewhat of a plateau. We'll see. At any rate, no one was out in front of this. People are simply reacting.

Sure, the renderings in scripture of words is varied. And no one here is prepared to teach on every aspect of the heart. That doesn't mean some understanding cannot be gleaned without bias.

Which would be good to discuss further, but you know far more than 3,000 heard the sermon and that the context affirms that some responded. Thus, some didn't. Are you really prepared to say only 3,000 heard the sermon?
