    Understanding God’s election

The plain meaning of verse 41 is that the ones who gladly received and were baptized are the same the 3,000. But clearly the city would have been filled with hundreds of thousands of Jews the day of Pentecost.

    Saved by faith alone?

I believed God existed. I hadn't believed into the Lord Jesus Christ. I knew things about God, but I didn't know Him personally and intimately.

    Understanding God’s election

It's a simple question: did anyone who did not gladly receive the sermon get baptized? The text says that those who gladly received were baptized. We know that the total number saved was 3,000. Out of the 3,000, were any other than those who gladly received and were baptized? In other words...

    Saved by faith alone?

Sure I believe God was already at work in me, both changing my heart and drawing me to Himself, before I realized what was taking place. In fact, I didn't realize what had transpired until I began reading scripture. What I was sure of was I was a sinner and needed to have the burden of my sins...

    Saved by faith alone?

I missed it. Lots of posts today. I was the 4th soil at the point of my conversion. Had I been a different soil, the outcome would have been different.

Did more than 3,000 people hear Peter's sermon the day of Pentecost?

Of course they didn't. Only those who gladly received got baptized. To disagree with such a statement merely shows the absurd lengths to which people go to in order to maintain their bias.

Ham saw his father naked, why Noah cursed Canaan (Son of Ham) instead of Ham?

I disagree with your understanding, but I enjoyed your presentation.

    Trumps Tariffs

It's a good analogy, but we may or may not have hit somewhat of a plateau. We'll see. At any rate, no one was out in front of this. People are simply reacting.

    Saved by faith alone?

And there is the rub: what seems apparent to some is not obvious to others.

    Understanding God’s election

Did some respond who did not gladly receive the message and got baptized?

    Saved by faith alone?

Sure, the renderings in scripture of words is varied. And no one here is prepared to teach on every aspect of the heart. That doesn't mean some understanding cannot be gleaned without bias.

    Understanding God’s election

Which would be good to discuss further, but you know far more than 3,000 heard the sermon and that the context affirms that some responded. Thus, some didn't. Are you really prepared to say only 3,000 heard the sermon?

    Understanding God’s election

Verse 41...only those that gladly received the word were baptized. Hence, there were others who did not gladly receive the word.

    Saved by faith alone?

You're totally ignoring my point and the substance of your earlier post. Men do not change the type of soil they are.

But only some were so influenced. This was the context of my question. All heard the same thing. Why the difference in responses?

    Trumps Tariffs

But there is. The government is borrowing less money. It may be the period being looked at is too short to be meaningful for policy changes, but there is evidence.

    Understanding God’s election

Everyone pays alot of attention to Acts 2:38, but little attention is given to Acts 2:37. Here we find that Peter's preaching has great effect on some individuals. They hear...mind is engaged...are pricked in the heart...heart is engaged...and said...the will is engaged. How do you account for...

    Saved by faith alone?

Yes, the parable is about 4 soils and one being desirable. Earlier, you said it was about men trying to become a different soil. This is what I objected to. It is not found in the parable, and not even possible. God actually used this parable in saving me. And under conviction, I did cry out to...
