The explanation is much simpler than your hypothetical tripe: flat maps are easier to create, store, and transport. Further, it was common throughout history to convey written/drawn information on a flat surface (scroll, parchment, dust on the ground, etc.).

That portion of the prayer is a statement that God's will is done in heaven, where sinful humans are absent, and a plea that God's will would be done on earth.

Nothing in Scripture supports the bolded assertion. We don't become Christians by moral excellence, and we don't "unbecome" Christians by moral failure.
