Sure you are. You’re saying baptism is a requirement which would indicate that a physical act is needed for salvation. I would suggest you read some scholarly writings on that particular passage with proper hermeneutics.

There are a lot of scholars whom disagree on that particular passage. Since Jesus was Jewish and Nicodemus was Jewish, it had something to do with cleansing by water. See, you’re starting to get into the grace by sanctification area by claiming its mandatory. That’s a dangerous road to travel.
