The Peace Of God Surpasses All Understanding ( Phil.4 )

You're right! This is an important piece of knowledge. 2 Peter 1 New International Version (NIV) 1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be...

The Peace Of God Surpasses All Understanding ( Phil.4 )

Knowledge alone will only puff us up, we need to strike a balance between knowledge and spirituality. DustyRhodes is right: we don't need to know everything about God to have peace and faith. My denomination puts faith and love above knowledge. I fellowship with people who can barely read and...

I don't understand some Bible verses.

In addition to what has been said by others, it is important to bear in mind that Jesus was preaching to the Jews, who were expecting a King who would be called The Prince of Peace. Some theologians say Jesus was going to be an earthly king, but since He was rejected by His own people this...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

Beautiful passage, but Joshua told the people of Israel to do everything written the Book of the Law. Back then it was possible to do everything, but today it is not and we are not allowed to pick and choose which laws we will follow.

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

Hi, brother SG! Paul said: I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. Much to my regret, I am not able to...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

God is not a god of confusion, but the majority of theologians are. Jesus taught obedience to the Law of Moses. When the young rich ruler asked Him "what shall I do to inherit eternal life?", Jesus answered: "Keep the commandments". To the man cured of leprosy He said: "Show yourself to the...

    Hebrew the first language?

After a quick reading I came to the following conclusion: Hebrew probably is indeed the oldest language on Earth. It was handed down from Adam to Abraham and he brought it from Mesopotamia to Canaan. Since the Canaanites didn't have a unified language (there were many tribes with many languages)...

Thanks, I'll do that! Now, look what I found: Is Hebrew the oldest language on Earth? Jeff Benner, 20+ years teaching Biblical Hebrew and Bible interpretation. Was Hebrew the first language spoken in the world? I am going to answer this question from a Biblical Perspective and from this...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

Hi SG! At least with regard to the bolded sentence above, I agree with you. IMO this grace-plus-nothing theology is deceitful. Obviously we are not saved by works, but the absence of benevolent actions reveals a dead faith. I can't turn down a beggar on the grounds that salvation is not by works.

It seems to be interesting, but it's too expensive for me to buy. Now that I'm retired, I see everything as expensive. The Name of God; From Sinai to the American Southwest by Dr. James R. Harris (Book) $19.95 Professor James R. Harris, a foremost expert on ancient Near Eastern languages...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

He claimed and seemed to be Spirit led, but eventually it became obvious that he was not. I came across him a year or so after he started working for false prophet Edir Macedo and he tried to excuse himself saying: "I'm working for Universal Church of God's Kingdom, but I don't agree with...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

What you say makes sense, but I still don't have a sure opinion about the exact meaning of this portion of Scripture. But one thing is absolutely clear to me: Since the Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15)the Law of Moses is no longer in force. The Lord Jesus said: Not one jot or tittle will pass...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

My friend gave away almost everything he had because he wanted "to follow Jesus". But he attempted to follow the wrong Jesus. We are to follow the resurrected Christ who spoke to us through Paul, not the earthly Jesus who preached the ultimate version of the Law of Moses to the Jews. In the...

Did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses?

My friend was a by-the-book-Christian. He studied the Bible just like lawyers study a civil code, and this is putting the cart ahead of the ox. Christians must be primarily guided by the Holy Spirit and secondly by Scripture.
