    Cessationism and Continuationism

Maybe I’m taking a different approach on the topic. It’s obviously a popular(and controversial) point among Christians. The other OP’s seem to divulge in a bickering contest. I was hoping to avoid that and have a real discourse about it.

    Cessationism and Continuationism

I wouldn’t call him a liar. That’s a broad brush to stroke a man with. Can you give any credible evidence that such things are still in place? That’s essentially what I am looking for. Many claim this, but there is no clear indication this still occurs since we have have God’s full revelation(As...

There are a lot of repeated threads on here.

    Cessationism and Continuationism

In some denominations “Word of Faith” has become a central doctrine. In that I mean they teach that unless one has the gift of tongues, healing, prophecy, etc they do not have the Holy Spirit. This of course is a fallacy and unbiblical. That misrepresentation of faith is what I am alluding to.

That’s not the faith I was referring to.

Mos That’s not the kind of faith I am referring to.

So I’m assuming you follow the word of faith doctrine then?

    Cessationism and Continuationism

Sure you can prove it. Look at Paula White and confirm that she is really speaking in tongues, Kenneth Copeland speaking things into existence. Anyone with even a hint of discernment would see they fabricate almost everything.

    Cessationism and Continuationism

I wouldn’t compare MacArthur to Copeland. Vast difference in theology between the two. So what preacher/teacher do you prefer?

    Cessationism and Continuationism

Can you give an instance when he said that? I have heard him refer to Churches like Bethel which I also find to be not of the Spirit.

    Cessationism and Continuationism

I was aware of it. Still, I do believe it’s something we can discuss without any hostility.

What compelled you to post it? It’s obviously something you have prondered for quite some time.

    Cessationism and Continuationism

This is just a short 8 minute video clip of John MacArthur explaining why he believes(As I do) that certain gifts of the Spirit ceased with Apostles. I know this is a touchy subject and I do expect some disagreement, but I am interested in what other Christians thoughts on the matter are.

Are curses still relevant to the Christians?

I would have to say no, as there are various reasons as to why. However, Christians are not immune to evil that persists in the world whether it be physical or spiritual.

As in the days of Noah... ALL flesh had CORRUPTED itself

I have been meaning to read the book of Enoch for while now. If cannot read it, I was thinking about listening online. I do believe it does offer historical accounts that can help fill in the gaps of Genesis.

    Biblical headcovering

I haven’t thought about this in quite a long time(Being male, it never really applied to me) but, if a woman believes that covering her head in prayer brings honor to God, she should do so.

The Pope's statements on the childless

One of the first commandments God gave to Adam and Eve was to be fruitful and multiple. I can see where Pope Francis is getting his point of view from, but he’s not God. I don’t always understand the relationship some people have with their pets. It’s almost like to some, animals have a higher...

Why are so many Christians still so confused about the afterlife?

I know that there be many that I love whom will not be brought into the Kingdom. I know that the Lord is fair and just and gives to everyone according to their deeds. Trying to look at eternity from human perspective is beyond comprehension.

Are miracles a necessary part of the the gospel?

Agreed. I do believe that there were certain dispensations when God did use miracles(The exodus, Christs ministry and resurrection, the Acts of the Apostles) according to His plan. We now have the full word of God(What He has revealed to humans) and miracles in the Biblical sense are not as...
