  1. ReturnToGod

    Not By Works

We agree. If the Holy Spirit is in us (which is God) he leads us to hate sin and to works bringing glory to our God. Yet the Holy Spirit is a counselor and helper, not a controller. We can grieve and quench the Holy Spirit.
  2. ReturnToGod

    Not By Works

Scripture says we can both grieve and quench (extinguish) the Spirit. (let me know if you want the verses). We are saved through faith but faith is not a simple intellectual acknowledgement. True faith manifests itself. Not in perfection, but in our striving to do what is right before God.
  3. ReturnToGod

    Not By Works

It is by faith and faith manifests itself. It has nothing to do with perfect obedience. None of us can be that. But it is a far different story to say that we are sinning intentionally, we don't care to do the will of God, or that we are not committed to obey for Hebrews 5:9 and Hebrews...

    Not By Works

Many believers think they do. They live the life they want. They "sin all the time". I have had direct discussions with "believers" who have actually told me they can sin all they want. This is what the Modern Church teaches, most often indirectly. It is a lie from Hell.
  5. ReturnToGod

    Not By Works

We can grieve and quench the Holy Spirit according to Scripture. Furthermore, time after time, men do not respond to God's chastening. (See Amos 4). We have the free will to submit to the Holy Spirit and the free will to oppose the Holy Spirit.

So I might state this a little different but agree with the essence. Pisteo is almost always in the continuous present tense meaning it is something that must be sustained. We have the Holy Spirit to help us and scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit is a Helper, a Counselor but not a...

Why Do Christians Ignore Most of the Old Testament Rules?

Because it is what scripture teaches. We come to God in faith and coming to God nothing we do has any merit. However once we have accepted Jesus Christ, we are to live faithfully. I remind you of what happened to the Israelites who were also promised something that did not come to pass...
  8. ReturnToGod

    Am I wrong!?!

I know that you have much human logic here, but simply there are plenty of scriptures that call into question your conclusion. Let me just remind you of this: For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. We are led when we are following. If you are trying to be...
  9. ReturnToGod

    Am I wrong!?!

I do think it is an answer. Scripture clearly teaches we can turn our back on God as evidenced by the transition scriptures. However that is not Calvinism. Calvinism teaches God causes, I said God knows. There is a huge difference....
  10. ReturnToGod

    Not By Works

This is taking a verse out of the larger context of scripture. It is why I wrote the book Pulpit Fiction: How the Modern Church is Endangering the Eternal Destiny of its Followers. What the verse you quote says, we cannot be saved of ourselves. It says nothing of being faithful after we have...
  11. ReturnToGod

    Not By Works

The tongue in cheek quote that is often used and manifest in some, is that "the only difference between those who have accepted Christ and have not is the fact that those who have accepted Christ have been given a license to sin."
  12. ReturnToGod

    Am I wrong!?!

There are enough transition passages that suggest there is the possibility they were saved for we have it within the will granted us by God to oppose the Holy Spirit.
