To continue in His word isn't a performance issue but a way of life. Living by faith. We aren't saved by our level of performance nor our level of fulfilled "discipleship". We were saved already while yet sinners and even sapplings He abides in are just as safe as full trees.

That is the main tactic those who can't be honest can use to try and fight against the truth. They need to adjust the arguments of others enough to call it untrue then attempt to have the "truth" after knocking down their own version of what someone else believes.
