The word of God is not a secret code that needs unlocked.

I would like to interject that we are subjective rather than objective, so the best we can be is open-minded rather than callous-hearted. Also, even if we had a perfect/inerrant Bible, we are imperfect or fallible, so we would need to employ a good hermeneutic as we seek an ever better...

    Random Questions; Bible-based answers

This random question was raised on another thread, and I thought it might properly be discussed here if anyone finds it as interesting as I do: What does the absence of clear and concise pronouncements by Scripture on various issues such as abortion, war and whether the Sabbath law is part of...

    the Sabbath

    1. "Why does God have to repeat Himself for one to obey as if God in the OT is a different God in the New Testament When He says I do not change." God does not change, but He says that His first covenant was fulfilled and superseded by the Gospel of Christ. 2. "The fact we see the Sabbath...

    Understanding God’s election

Aah! I think I can help you better understand your own example. Grace means gift, but God's offer of grace is conditional, meaning that it must be accepted via faith before one becomes favored/blessed, and such faith/acceptance is NOT meritorious.

    Understanding God’s election

Exactly, so on what basis would a God who loved them judge them?

    the Sabbath

That's funny! You ask me to have a verse for something I said was missing. Do you have a verse showing Jesus or Paul commanded Christians to continue obeying the Sabbath Law instead of to do good on the Sabbath as on other days (vs. MT 12:12) or to not treat the Sabbath as special (vs. CL 2:16)?

I was wondering who believes you can get unsaved.

    1. "the warning is if it were possible. you could not get saved again". Why would the warning be needed if repudiating salvation is impossible? 2. "No it [HB 6:4-6] does not refer to believers. It says they recieve the knowledge, they recieved the word. and they have partook of Gods blessing."...

    A question about original sin

Well, babies are certainly all born selfish. I guess they become guilty at the age/stage their conscience recognizes selfishness is a sin, which must occur when they become conscious of God's will/word/law and can exercise their volition to repent.

    the Sabbath

I realize that, but I also realize that neither Jesus nor Paul commanded Christians to continue obeying the Sabbath Law, whereas they DID reaffirm OT moral commands as compatible with the fruit of the Spirit.

    Another look at John 10.

Oh, I see. Being raised in the Baptist denomination, I used to believe that, too, but I hope you have seen why I changed my opinion and will reconsider as you read every passage of GW I cite, because if God were going to nullify volition it would have been loving to force everyone to believe...

The word of God is not a secret code that needs unlocked.

The Bible is not a secret code that needs to be unlocked, but it was written in languages that need to be translated and interpreted. Thus we readers of translations need to employ a good hermeneutic for arriving at the best belief. The method I recommend is below: My method begins with the...

    Understanding God’s election

Yes and can you state what unbelievers are condemned to?

    Understanding God’s election

Exactly, which is why I posit that the Parable of the Talents teaches that God judges souls justly on the basis of the revelation they had the opportunity to learn, which for those without the OT & NT is limited to C&C (creation and conscience) per RM 1:20 & 2:14-16.

    the Sabbath

No, each person is accountable to God for his/her thoughts regarding the word of God. (HB 4:12) BTW, you DO know what the H in IMHO means? However, although Paul said his freedom should not be judged by another man's conscience, he still made an effort not to act in ways that might tempt...

Im new here. I need some help regarding 1 Corinth 11:14

Regarding: "To be specific: God is a spiritual male; While Man is a spiritual Female." And to be even more specific, this should be interpreted metaphorically as employing physical union to symbolize spiritual union. Regarding Paul's question, "Does not the very nature of things teach you...

    Another look at John 10.

I'm confused: Are "you" folks (B & mailman) agreeing or disagreeing whether a Christian is free to repudiate his saving faith?
