Hey I’m new and I’m wanting some friends

There are lots of folks here willing to offer advice. Most good, some a little off-center. But I will add anytime I have made a request for advice here, someone has spoken truth to me. Welcome to CC.

Devotionals from Christians of the 18th and 19th Centuries

Whether God come to His children with a rod or a crown, if He come Himself with it, it is well. Welcome, welcome Jesus, what way soever Thou come, if we can get a sight of Thee: and sure I am, it is better to be sick, providing Christ come to the bedside and draw the curtains, and say, Courage...

    new to christian chat

Welcome CC Jesusfollower. My Dad's family is Canadian and I was privileged to spend several joyous summers in the Soo. Hanging out in Batchawana Bay is some of my favorite memories. Hope to see ya around.

    snobbery

Amen brother! Unhappily I have found not only some "Christians" with these qualities but also entire churches. They sometime doll out charities from the rear door but do not encourage entry.

    Advice and Counsel

Yes, there is some pain here. Both of these friends are elderly, one lives alone with no family nearby and the other is in his mid-eighties and practically begged me to stop by and visit him once-in a while. I have taken one to medical appointments when he had no ride and helped the other...

Hope Is The Thing With Feathers

Except to Heaven, she is nought. Except to Heaven, she is nought. Except for Angels -- lone. Except to some wide-wandering Bee A flower superfluous blown. Except for winds -- provincial. Except by Butterflies Unnoticed as a single dew That on the Acre lies. The smallest Housewife in the...

    The vanishing male

If TV treated women today the same way they teat men, the howl of anger would reach the depth of the kingdom below. The end result of radical feminism has been destruction of masculinity and termination of feminine modesty and decorum. It has created the very thing it railed against at the...

    Advice and Counsel

Requested. Recently two friends, one long-time (but not close) and one newer friend have told me the same thing. They will not answer any calls from me. If I want to speak to them I am required to leave a message and they will call back. The longer term friend has been doing this for a year...

    The vanishing male

Men and masculinity have been under constant attack for the past 60 years. What we see today is the end result. Culture is dominated by feminism (or more accurately anti-masculinity) and men have surrendered. We have been hemmed in and socially emasculated, to speak out is sexist, bigoted...

I'll have to mention your life hack to my wife!

    Is America done?

I find it difficult to be encouraged and optimistic. God was incredibly patient with the Amorites but his judgement eventually fell.

    Hold Out

This reminds me of Yeats "The Second Coming" but with a happier ending. As usual, great work!

Devotionals from Christians of the 18th and 19th Centuries

Can we tolerate one more Pascal Quote? This one struck a seeker. Since your reason inclines you to believe and yet you cannot believe, your inability to believe comes from your passions. Try, then, not to convince yourself by multiplying the proofs of the evidence of God, but by diminishing...

Repentance and Forgiveness, real or not?

I admire your courage in posting these questions here. You raise a tangle of questions but I can provide but one response. Repentance and forgiveness are always available. If not for you then not for me, nor for anyone else either. You apparently feel gender change with or without...

Devotionals from Christians of the 18th and 19th Centuries

Wow, that is a great connection. I absolutely agree. Pascal said it in a few words and Edwards painted it with graphic reality.

Devotionals from Christians of the 18th and 19th Centuries

You are correct, my Pascal quote is not a devotional. I thought about that when I posted it. However, his description of man being, "...an chaos suspended over an abyss" causes me to pause and ponder. I think we both appreciate the rare genius of Pascal.
