  • If you have the means to PM me, I'd like to. I have an unbeleiving freind, much older than me, who's worn himself out with 'truthseeking' as an atheist and sees the many religions but can't see God. I hope with your help I can save him. I feel like he wouldn't bother reading through your website if I sent it to him.

Ceph, I never have checked this page, so I hope it is not too late to respond in a way that might be better than what I would have said before. I would begin with my testimony, which is found near the end of Lesson 12 on the website. Then I might ask him to read excerpts from Romans #1-42 found in Lesson 11 in the section on Election. Then Lesson 2, Part IV on A Biblical and Logical Hermeneutic. Hope this helps!

Thank you, I am already having a bit of a battle with witnessing to him. I don't know if I'll remember to follow your suggestion, since I can't get in touch with him right now, but if it helps, may God cause me to.

Part of the reasons why it’s difficult to make headway with others is…because if we say we have a hand in being saved…they will take that to be demeaning God’s sovereignty.
Sailor, i'm impressed that you now know how to check profile messages.

What is your view on God’s foreknowledge? Some people believe He knows every single thing that we are going to do before we ever do it, but it’s hard explaining to someone how they have free will, or why someone would be born if they were already known ahead of time that they’d be lost. If God knew someone wasn’t going to be a Christian before they were ever born, does that person have the ability to become one?

Or is their eternal destiny set in stone before they were born?

I believe God knows everything that can be known that is not in the category of the absurd akin to the question re omnipotence, "Can God make a rock too big for Him to move?" I also believe that in the category or dimensions of physics God is omnipresent or "In Him we move and have our being", so that He knows and enables the laws to operate in a deterministic-mathematical manner. So I continue by saying I do not understand how God could know a soul's free moral choice before they were even created. I prefer to think His POS is like a river in which He allows eddies or fish to swim while controlling its banks and judging the fish at the end. Judging is related to the doctrine of hell as loving and just.

Thanks! I just now discovered this Comment part of CC. I see that comments are limited to about five lines? Are the links threads that you started? I will try one and see...
