I do not agree with what you say.
It is possible to have both belief and faith and yet not be saved. Some believe that there is a God and shudder just as the demons do!
Faith which results in works that are pleasing to God only comes from being renewed by the Holy Spirit and given to Christ. Then works follow as a fruit of the work that He has done in us [giving us a new heart.

When we discuss biblical BELIEF, we are speaking about SALVIFIC BELIEF.
A person cannot stop each time the word is used in order to explain it.
Ditto for the word FAITH.
We don't discuss here whether or not we have faith that the elevator will take us to the top floors...
we're discussing FAITH IN GOD.
So, belief and faith are necessasry for salvation.
In the NT BELIEF and FAITH refer to salvific words.
John tells us in 3:16 that whoever BELIEVES in the Son will be saved.
NOT a mental belief as the demons had...
a salvific belief.
John 3:16 is about HOW to be SAVED.
And, yes, I agree, when we are saved....we will be renewed, or, at least, we should:
Romans 12:2
2 And do not be conformed to this [c]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may [d]prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [e]acceptable and perfect.
John 2:18-26
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
You're actually quoting James above...so I don't understand the point.
James states that faith without works is a dead faith.
You have not replied to my post.I see no scripture that says that Christ will lose any man given to Him by the Father. In fact, He tells us [none will be lost, all will be raised up on the last day].
Those in Christ will from time to time sin and stray from Christ, just as sheep are prone to do, but they will not remain that way. We have an excellent shepherd who will return us to the flock
Hebrews 6:4-6 is simply a warning to unregenerate professors – people part of the visible church but never truly born again. In other words, [examine yourself].
I posted scripture.
Please explain WHY you don't agree with what Peter taught.
You're not disagreeing with ME,,,you're disagreeing with Peter.
THEN we could move on to YOUR verse...Hebrews 6:4-6
Here is what I had posted again: post no. 5959

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
6 and then have fallen away,
Note:
1. Some have been enlightened.
They have TASTED of the heavenly gift (what is it?)
They have been made PARTAKERS of the Holy Spirit.
2. And THEN they have fallen away....
