A baker was at a meeting and was asked to open in prayer. He started out, "Lord, I don't like flour. It's dry and feels awful in my mouth. I'm not fond of vanilla either. I don't like the taste of butter or sugar either. Raw egg? No thanks. But we mix all that together, cook it and we end up with really nice biscuits. Thank you for mixing up the experiences we do not enjoy and making something blessed out of them."

Romans 8:28.

We may not find the individual experiences of our lives enjoyable at all. We rarely see what God is doing from them. However, it is clear from God's word that He has a plan, a "recipe" if you like, to bless us. Complaining hinders God's working in our lives. Praising God in hard times lightens the burden so that it is easier to bear. Let's consider the purpose of our trials and see that it is for our good. (James 1:2-4)

The Western world has become soft and self indulgent. Many Christians do not realise that in this world, tribulation is part of the deal. "Come to Jesus, He has a wonderful plan for your life." Read the fine print. It includes persecution, family troubles and hardships of many kinds.

Yup tribulation is part of the trip.

The word tribulation is derived from the word tribulum, a tribulum is the name of the rod used to separate the wheat from the chaf.

I had a prophecy over my life a few years after I was saved. The prophecy said that I would be a winnowing fork in God's hand. When I asked the Lord about it, He said yes, it was correct. He also said that I would have to be winnowed first. That I was not so keen on. I read up on it and learned about the threshing sledge, used to break the husk from the wheat prior to winnowing. That is even less fun.

Was it worth it? Yes. Am I fully "winnowed"? No. God has not finished with me. But I'm nothing like I was 53 years ago when I was born again.

Yes, God's plan or way to spiritual maturity is indicated in Eph. 4:11-15.

Maturity is the result of growing in Christ-likeness;

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

This is accomplished by transitioning from walking by the selfishness of the flesh to walking by the Spirit in the selfless love of Christ.

You call it "winnowed" my teacher always called it "whacked " over and over again, kiss the paddle, lol.

Glad to hear your enduring your perfecting process.
