God created us spiritual beings. We have a soul, which is basically mind emotion and will. Also, it is where the desire for gain, need for approval and the full range of what makes us human resides. It's called the "Natural man" in the Bible.

When Adam was created, his spirit was "good" but empty and neutral towards God. Adam was neither good nor evil. We understand that Adam's sin brought spiritual death into man and we are all born separated from God.

To be born again means to be made spiritually alive again. There is much to say about this, but I want to focus on one aspect. We are trained from birth to depend on what the world calls truth and according to our feelings. Some are ruled by emotion, others by logic and most by a combination of both. The spirit still exists when we are born. However, everything we experience and are taught is intended to build up the soul. This gives rise to terrible consequences. In the 60's, the world told us, "If it feels good, do it". Countless lives have been destroyed by that idiocy. Reliance on logic and reason has led to all kinds of evil. The god of this world blinds the eyes of those who are perishing and their minds are darkened.

Believers come to Christ with many attitudes and habits that have been moulded into us from birth. We come with the habit of depending on thought and feeling. God wants us to live by faith, and faith is far higher than thought and feeling. It is confidence and trust in God and His Word, to the point where His Word is our absolute authority.

After being born again, need to be delivered from the influence and control of the natural life in the soul. This is not something we can do ourselves. Our spirit man has been entangled with the soul to the point where the spirit is suppressed. So God provides the remedy. We find this in Hebrews 4:12,
"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

Note that it is the Living Word of God that has the power to divide soul and spirit. Many Christians make the mistake of using logic and reason to form opinions as to what the Bible says. This leads to much confusion and misunderstanding. The Bible is a spiritual book for spiritual people. (1 Corinthians 2:13)

For example, many believers are not at all certain that God loves them. I personally struggled with this for a few years. I hated myself, which is not at all healthy. I imagined this to be humility. So that wrong attitude coloured my Christian life. As I began to accept God's Word, so my attitude began to change. I began to see that God loved me in spite of who I was. I realised that when I thought too much about myself, I became depressed. However, when I saw myself in Christ, my inner being lit up, so to speak. I began to see that the old "me" was dead and buried. I began to see myself in Christ.

We need to come to the place where our spirit man is so strong that nothing can move us. We stand on the truth of God's Word and reject anything contrary. Our soul must become the servant of our spirit and not the ruler. It's not enough to have God's word only in our minds. It has to be the Living Word, written on our hearts.

Ask God for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus (Ephesians 1:17). God is only too willing to grant us that. And don't be too clever. We are nowhere near as good as we think we are. Let Jesus teach us. We will never regret it.

A couple of thoughts: 1. Reliance on ILlogic (wrong reasoning) rather than on the Logos/Word has led to all kinds of evil.
2. Jesus said to love your neighbor as [you love] yourself.

Yes, but human logic and reason are insufficient. Most people who post here can justify what they say from scripture. Error results from seeing scripture from logic apart from the Spirit. Legalism, sabbath worship, baptismal regeneration, universal reconciliation can all be found if you search hard and ignore the leading of the Spirit.

Genesis 1:31
God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Sure, Adam was good in the sense that God was happy with His creation. However, Adam was not complete. Hence the two trees in the middle of the garden. Ideally, Adam would have eaten from the tree of life and we would not be having this conversation!

A better translation of Genesis 1:31 would state that everything was functioning exactly as God wanted it to, avoiding any sense of good or evil. Thus, Adam was behaving just as a human should, until he didn't.

I have never seen that in any translation. However, Adam was of the natural world...

It seems to me he did what any natural man does, and God certainly knew what that was going to be.

Translations tend to follow expected patterns. I am presenting a much more literal understanding of the Hebrew where the term does not imply perfection.
I might make an apple pie and decree it very good and then observe that it is a little juicy but very good as it tastes exactly like I wanted it to.

Yes, but human logic is a divine gift aka common sense & conscience, which is all those unfamiliar with the OT & NT have/had,
but it (general revelation) is sufficient for seeking salvation, finding God and following the leading of the HS per Romans 1:20.

Rom_1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

When Adam and Eve chose to go their own way they transitioned from "good" to "bad". We are all born helpless, ignorant, and selfish. This is our nature apart from God. Here is a short article about what happens when truth is changed. The article has a political slant.

It is not an uncommon argument for a wife to complain to her husband, “You never talk to me”. To which the husband might respond, “What do you think we are doing now”. To analyze this exchange we might see the same language used for two different purposes. For the wife, language is used to express how she feels. For the husband language is used factually. Sadly, the husband often fails to recognize that it is up to him to translate his wife’s distress and take steps to verbally connect with her.

In the example above, both parties were speaking truth but in different ways. Using the example of when a liberal accuses Trump of being Hitler, we find a greater distortion of language than just expressing emotional distress. The basic problem is a different view of truth. One can see truth as an absolute and unchangeable description of reality. However, liberals often see truth as relativistic and more fluid. A flexible truth in support of what one wants or how one feels can be much more useful.

Another component to factor in understanding the trouble liberals have with truth can be found with the word “hypocrisy”. Derived from the Greek meaning to “speak from under a mask”, we tend to think of the word as intentional deception such as the actors art. However, the warning Jesus gave his disciples about this touches a more profound aspect, that of self-deception. This may be more similar to an actor who “gets lost in his part”. In the Seinfeld TV show George Costanza attempting to condense his expertise in lying tells Jerry, “It’s not a lie if you believe it”.

We rely on our parents to help us learn to see truth, develop self-discipline, and navigate a potentially hostile world. Liberals are like children who never learned to see truth or have regressed to a childish state. One can see the appeal of the irrational to a child. For example, the prospect of unlimited ice cream might induce a child to agree with anything. Similarly, the appeal of communism (when presented as “everyone can have everything all the time”) has a strong appeal.

Perhaps Jesus warned his disciples against self-deception because it is a prison that one seldom escapes. Without the ability or desire to see truth no amount of failure can put a dent into utopian dreams. Liberals lie because it helps them get what they want and makes them feel good. In the artificial world their childish imagination has created this is as real and true as unicorns, free beer, forgiven student debt, endless government borrowing, and unrestrained sensual indulgences. Those who would threaten this world are enemies that need to be destroyed.

I believe that the vast array of different opinions arrived at by logic and reason contradicts your belief. Those who are born again have a new spirit that includes conscience and intuition. This is where revelation operates. Logic and reason drove Saul to persecute Christians savagely, thinking that he was doing God a favour. He was an expert in the OT yet missed the truth of the Messiah. The two disciples on the way to Emmaus knew Jesus, knew his promises to die and rise again and even knew that the tomb was empty. Yet they still did not recognise Jesus. Logic and reason failed them. They needed revelation.

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death". Proverbs 14:12.

This truth you spoke is a process to us each from God Father in risen Son personally, thank you for the post, I agree and have seen God stick with me, even though should have left me like I have done to others and others have done to me. Yet, Once one, anyone is freed by God to see, It is amazing Grace given as John Newton, who wrote Amazing Grace wrote after leaving slave retrying behind him, in the experience God gave him to see and change willingly

Genesis 1:31
God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

God declared what He made was good which is not the same as something being innately good. Only God is innately good and therefore innate goodness cannot be created as God is uncreated. Ergo, Adam was not good or evil which is why the tree of such knowledge could be placed in the Garden.

I have never seen that in any translation. However, Adam was of the natural world...

It seems to me he did what any natural man does, and God certainly knew what that was going to be.

And Christ was born of flesh too so being "natural" in the sense you have used it here does not mean "must sin". Gnostics thought the physical world was evil.

There is place for reason as long as it is with and in the Word of God.

Yes. Remember that the people of Israel were not born again. They had no live spirit that could comprehend spiritual truth. That's why the law was vital. And also why they refused to obey the law.

How could they write scripture if they were not born again? All believing Israelites were born again and not all refused to obey the Law. It was never obedience to the Law per se but faith in Yahweh that motivated obedience to the Law that God desired. The Law was necessary to define sin.

Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

While I agree with 90-95% of your OP, there are one or two matters I disagree with.

GWT 20 Not one person can have God's approval by following Moses' Teachings.

Moses' Teachings show what sin is.

Most believe Paul is referring to the Commandments, yes, they do show us what God has determined what is sin.

“Approval” is not speaking of the Gift of eternal life, but justification.

Until Jesus Christ came what, what method was available to justify sin? To admit you have sinned, have repented and want your sins paid for, forgiven?

The one and the only way and there will be --- only one way -- ever. the sacrifice of Christ!

but until Christ came;

Animal sacrifice was the only option, “Without the shedding of Blood sin cannot be forgiven.”

When Paul uses the term “works of the Law”, he does not mean obeying the Commandments, Paul is teaching, by sacrificing animals, no one is justified, no one is forgiven.

Never in the entirety of the Word of God is it stated that obeying the Torah will justify or pay for sin or let you earn eternal life! NEVER!

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is noremission.” Release from sentence of death.

Only by the ONE sacrifice Christ made for each of us,, are our sins paid for.

NIV 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the "law" we become conscious of our sin.

The sacrificial law, was the way the sinner admits his sin and demonstrates he wants forgiveness.

offering animal sacrifices makes, allows men to understand the need for Christ to shed HIS blood on the ground in payment for his sins.

That is why Paul said the Sacrificial law is our “School Master” teaching us of the absolute need for the death of Jesus Christ.

those claiming "keep the Commandments" are an attempt to earn salvation, do not understand never in the entirety of the WORD was that offered.

living by the Commandment and the Torah is the WAY of GOD, which is why Christ was with out sin.

Can't be true. David lived in the revelation of new covenant realities, and the only way he could have known those things is through the teaching of the holy spirit.

Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, my statement was an over generalisation. I believe that the OT saints, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the true prophets, Moses, Joshua and Caleb were born again. However, what they did not have was the indwelling Holy Spirit as believers have today. The Holy Spirit came upon them from time to time. Samson is a good example.

Most Israelis were not born again as witnessed by their utter unwillingness to obey God's law. It was not too hard, according to God. But the unregenerate heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.
