Scripture will answer this if you really want to see what scripture says on the matter because according to the way you asked you do not fully understand what scripture teaches on this subject.

Scripture answers the question very clearly.

Acts 10:44. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

These Gentiles also believed on Jesus Christ while they heard Peter preach. That's when they received everlasting life and received the gift of the Holy Ghost/Spirit upon them.
Afterwards, they were obedient to follow in believer's baptism.
This was a work of righteousness.

Question? Are you dead set in your belief to the point that you can not be wrong and if anyone questions you it upsets you and there is no way an opposing view can have any merit?

Sorry if I misjudged you.
I get sceptical when questions on salvation arise and learn that someone is a preacher.
We get a lot of preachers who join to bring dissention, knowing this is an evangelical forum that's primarily grace based. They go through the cycle of stirring things up until they're eventually banned and then return under another alias.
I'm personally not into debating. My desire is to focus on helping bless and lead others to Christ. Someone cared enough to take the time and effort to do that for me, so I'm supposed to pass that forward.
Question? Are you dead set in your belief to the point that you can not be wrong and if anyone questions you it upsets you and there is no way an opposing view can have any merit?

I have heard many teaching differing on the answer to this question. Being I am new here I was hoping to get the feel of the board as to how each would answer this, so being I could not find a thread currently on this topic I chose to bring it up so as to get a feel of the boards views.
If there is already a thread dealing with topic please pint me in that direct so I can view or we can start over in this one.

Thanks Biilybob65 for your question. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. " (Anyone who believes unto salvation has been enabled to believe by the Lord.) There is an open field that is the world, and the fields are white to the harvest. The reason God can open up the hearts of people to believe the good news is thanks to what God the father did in putting Jesus to death in our place on the cross, and then raising him to victory over death. Any time someone hears the good news of salvation and believes it means that they have passed from death to life. It is by far the best thing that can happen to anyone.

I don't have years of patience debating strange preachers on the internet.
I've done what I asked of others.
Plead with God, having and open mind to His Truth, while searching and reading the scriptures.
Repent/repentance, baptism, believe, ask Jesus into your heart, give your life to Christ, etc.
I've done research because people's eternal destinies to Heaven or Hell are too important to be giving them a fentanyl pill soaked in honey.
Apparently few preachers do this. If they did, they'd see a pattern in John's gospel and the requirements wouldn't be their pet verses squeezed out of context.

Preachers should do an exhaustive word study on the terms used as responses for the gospel.

🚫Give your life to Christ? Most TV wolves in sheep's clothing.
🚫Promise to serve Him all the days of your life? Pat Robertson
🚫Repent of your sins and be baptized? Mormon
🚫Endure to the end?
500 # Preachers in a marathon.
🤢Etc ad nauseum. 🤮

I'm not going to debate someone who might be a Mormon for all I know.
I'm busy reaching the lost with the correct gospel of Jesus, John the Baptist, John the friend of Jesus, Moses and the prophets.

New question. How many on here believe that the baptism of Acts 2:38 is a baptism for (in order to obtain) remission of sin, or do you think it is (because of remission of sin)? Can you provide scripture to support which view you take? Are you dead set in your view or open to explore other views? If it is decided that it does mean that it is in order to obtain, is it also true that it is when the indwelling spirit is given? Likewise if it is determined that it is because your sins were remitted is it still when the indwelling spirit is given as stated in Acts 2;38? Can you give scriptural support for your view?

So short answer yes you are set in your understanding and any other view is wrong and you won't even consider it could be you. Just trying to see how open to study you may be?

Thanks Biilybob65, for your new question about Acts 2:38. This scripture says, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. "

To be baptized means to be washed free from the stain and penalty of sin. It is not about a ritual or physical water. Water in the Bible is meaning the word of God. When God gives us belief in his word, we are washed free from the stain and penalty of sin. We read, "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. " If we read, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. ", then we need to understand that this is not saying you have to believe and to also undergo a physical ritual. Rather, it is saying whoever believes is also forgiven (washed free from the stain and penalty of sin), and such a person will be saved.

Just a quick note on AI. I too asked AI several biblical questions and got several different answer depending on the way I asked the question. AI has conflicting views and can be lead in different view point to come up with the answer you desire.

Try typing this first.

Using only the scripture.

Or type this.

Using only the New Testament.

That restricts AI to the scripture. If you do not restrict AI to what the apostles wrote then you
will end up with a mixed bag of theology.

There is another step the majority of what is called Christianity will never touch, never mention. I do not understand why they have ignored this step but they all do.

It’s found in Acts 8

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. )

17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. spirit

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

After repentance, after baptism, a minister of Jesus Christ, in whom is the Holy Spirit, must lay their hands on you and ask that God the Father put His spirit in you.

This is the way the spirit is given.

To confirm this step the writer of Hebrews includes it as one of the doctrines of Christ.

Hebrews 6

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection;

not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works,

and of faith toward God,

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms,

and of laying on of hands,

and of resurrection of the dead,

and of eternal judgment.

3 And this will we do, if God permit.

4 For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Spirit

Here it is in the NKJ

1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to [a]perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3And this https://biblehub.com/nkjv/hebrews/6.htm#footnoteswe will do if God permits.

You need faith

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith (trust) is what one has when he sees truth that can be trusted.
Amen! That salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works is not hard to understand. It's just hard for works-salvationists to ACCEPT. It's a shame that human pride will not allow works-salvationists to place their faith in Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation. Their hands are full of their works, and they will not let go in order to receive Christ through faith.

Of ourselves, there is absolutely noting that we can do to save ourselves. There is only one prerequisite to becoming saved and that is to have been chosen in Christ for salvation by God from before the foundation of the world. Everything else pertaining to salvation comes as a result of that or salvation doesn't come at all. It is a free gift from an exceeding merciful and gracious God through Jesus Christ unto those who in no way deserve it. What is actually deserved, is to suffer God's wrath; but because of His mercy and grace alone, those chosen by Him will not suffer it. It was for this purpose that God sent forth Jesus Christ as the Savior.

Faith (trust) is what one has when he sees truth that can be trusted.

Were that true, those verses would then be in contradiction to themselves: if salvation were truly the gift of God as the verses tells us it is, then God alone had to have provided/satisfied all parts of it with no exceptions, including, especially, the faith part. Therefore, the faith, of the faith of the verse, was satisfied by Christ's faith which He manifested in/by His faithfulness and allegiance to the satisfying of the Father's plan of salvation. Therefore, it was not, nor could it ever be satisfied, by man's faith.

Thanks Biilybob65, for your new question about Acts 2:38. This scripture says, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. "

Maybe we are looking through bias colored lens and not getting the correct meaning.

with all due respect I feel we need to put a little more study into this. I think we are missing some key points here.

I feel you really miss the point that Paul is expressing here. You can start with what he means by not of works.

Is this where you tell me that "not of works" does not cover works in general but merely pertains to specific works under the law of Moses?
