1 Cor 12: 12-14 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Greeks, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink unto one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.
1 Cor 12: 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
Eph 1: 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. The Father's glory is His Holy Spirit which in Isaiah 63: 9-10 is described as the angel of His presence. Angel because it can be sent, and where the Holy Spirit is, the Father is.
Eph 1: 22-23 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. In these two verses, Christ is exalted by the Father as the Head of His body, the Church.
Col 1: 17-19 And he is before all things, and by him all things exist. And he is the head of the body, the church; who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in all things he might have the pre-eminence. These verses seem to indicate that in all creation, Christ was the first (alpha) because he is before all things and by him (the Son being filled with the Father's Holy Spirit, the presence, power, and will of the Father) all things exist. Not only was he the first before creation, he is also the first to be born (made alive) from the dead.
Romans 12: 4-5 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office, So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
The church, as Christ's physical representation on Earth, is the organism through which He manifests His life and continues His work through the Holy Spirit in the world today. Jesus is the sole head of the body, providing direction, life, and authority to the church.
John 17: 1-5 These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee. As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou (the Father) hast given him (the Son). This power to give eternal life is exercised when Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit in order for him to enter the being indwelled. When the Son enters, so does the Father who is in Jesus. He is the only way to the Father. Jesus is glorified because he is gifted with the presence of the Father. When Jesus told his disciples to wait for him in Jeruslem, he also told them that if he didn't go, he would not be able to send the Comforter (the Holy Spirit). Obviously, when Jesus ascended up to heaven to get glorified, he went to the Father to receive this power of sending (baptising with) the Holy Spirit (Comforter).
John 7: 38-39 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water. But this spoke he of the Spirit, whom they that believe on him should receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. This seems to indicate that those who truly believe in Jesus will receive the Holy Spirit. This power to baptize with the Holy Spirit was given to him when he went back to the Father to get glorified. Who are members of His Church? Those who are chosen by the Father, believe on the Son, and get baptized by the Son with the Holy Spirit so that the Son, along with the Father, can enter our beings. We then become members of the Family of God the Father, and members of the body of His Son ( one with the Father and the Son). What do we all share? The Holy Spirit which acts as a portal through which the one true God operates in our reality by His presence in His Son and in us through His Son.
