An incredible springtime pic taken at Robbers Cave and another pic taken at Mt. Scott. (Side note @Jackson129 ...not flat!)

I usually post pics taken by the very wonderful Okie wildlife photographers and those here that are gifted in capturing the lovely scenery in my home state, but today I thought I'd post some of my own pics. My best friend and I had a final outing before she moves out of state tomorrow. After a delicious meal at a local eatery, we did some sightseeing downtown. Mind you, we've seen downtown plenty of times, but it's always nice to stroll around our downtown seeing the lovely flowerbeds and fountains and it was her last time to do so before she moves.

We also went to a concert afterwards. My best friend has some disabilities that cause her to have limited mobility. We got to the concert place early, so we set in the lobby area talking. A fella comes along and sets with us. He was very nice and we had a conversation about his leg. He was a pilot in the Vietnam War. He was shot in the leg on his birthday in the 60s. They fixed him up, but over 30 years later he was suffering severe pain. Come to find out, there was some shrapnel still in his leg! This caused an infection that spread to his bone and his leg had to be removed. He had such a pleasant attitude about it all, bless him.

One of the ushers came over to us and was concerned about my best friend being able to get to her seat due to it being accessed by going up the stairs. Well, the veteran offered her a center ticket on the front row. He said his wife wasn't able to be there for the concert and he had her ticket. So, my bestie got a front and center seat to the concert (afterwards she told me it was awesome). I didn't mind climbing the stairs to get to my seat. I like stairs and am blessed with the mobility to take them. Anyway, the band we went to see was a band called Sail On. They are a Beach Boys tribute band, here's a video I recorded of them...

Love those flower sculptures! 🌼 😍 Are the petals made with glass? Glass in outdoor art is so mesmerizing. 🤩
Yes, the petals are colorful cast glass. It's very beautiful in person. They are said to be 11 feet tall. It's an interactive art installation called Native Color and it was created by artist and designer Amie J. Jacobsen. Our state flower, commonly called Indian blanket, was her inspiration. It also has an interactive gentle splash pad.

"The piece is meant to celebrate the strong Native American history of the area and honor the flora and fauna of the prairie. Honeybees, toiling atop the flowers, are another state symbol and represent communities working together."

Here's a few more pics. (Photo credits: the first 2 were taken by Amie Jacobsen, the 3rd is a pic of Amie, the 4th pic was taken by Kumar Krishnan, and the 5th pic by Caleb Gordon)

When were you here? Were you visiting or did you live here for a while...???
Sorry-- I just clicked on new posts and saw the thread, not realizing this was the singles forum... I ain't one. -But I used to live in Calgary and we vacationed in BC a lot when I was a kid. I had an uncle as well as a brother on the island. How long ago? Well-- the zoo was still a thing back then, at Stanley Park.

Out.
