John says that Mary Magdalene came to the tomb while it was still dark. However, Mark says that she came to the tomb when the sun had risen. Can both be correct?

At morning time was dark, yet light was setting into the new day
As each person watches something go on and sees from their view, It is different from others.
Therefore me knowing the Guise; stories are true and not planned out how?
The stories of Esch are not excerpt the same, yet in perspective are
Anyways, Son is risen where the new life is given from Father to us in Father's Spirit and truth to me at least
John 4:23-24, John 4 amazing grace given to appreciate and hold onto as Gold to me at least in thanksgiving and praise

Mark doesn't say when the sun had risen, but at very early dawn, when it can still be somewhat dark

Yes, they can both be correct. Mary had to wait until the Sabbath ended at sundown before she could do the "work" of the burial preparations. By then it probably would have been unsafe for her to go to the tomb alone (especially considering that it was a secluded location and male guards were stationed there). So she waited until the crack of dawn the next morning, the sun was risen a bit but it was still pretty dark.

The answer seems pretty obvious, have you never been awake at that time of day? 🤔

Matt 12:39-40 . . As Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of
a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the
heart of the earth.

A preponderance of textual evidence indicates Jesus' crucified dead body
was restored to life during the third day rather than after the third was all
over and done with.

Matt 17:22-23
Matt 20:18-19
Mark 9:31
Luke 9:22
Luke 18:33
Luke 24:5-8
Luke 24:21-23
Luke 24:46
John 2:19
Acts 10:40
1Cor 15:4

FAQ: What about Matt 27:63 and Mark 8:31? They say "after" the third day
rather than during the third.

REPLY: To begin with, those verses are outnumbered 11÷2.

Plus; the Greek word translated "after" is somewhat ambiguous. It can
indicate moments following the conclusion of an event, but it can also
indicate moments within an event. I suggest letting the 11÷2 majority
decide how best to interpret the intent of Matt 27:63 and Mark 8:31.

FAQ: Luke 24:21-23 says the morning that women came to the cemetery
was the third day. How can that be true when the sun wasn't up yet when
they arrived?

REPLY: That's a mite confusing due to a natural day following close on the
heels of a liturgical day.

Whereas liturgical days begin at sundown; natural days begin at sunrise.
Also, liturgical days were a twenty-four hour aggregate of daytime
and nighttime; whereas natural days consisted of only twelve hours of
daytime. (John 11:9-10)

The day preceding the first day of the week was a sabbath (Matt 28:1)
which began at sunset Friday and ended at sunset Saturday. So that in
accord with liturgy the first day of the week began with sunset Saturday,
whereas in accord with nature it began with sunrise Sunday.

Both could be correct if she visited the tomb twice..

Yes, Mary Magdalene visited the tomb of Jesus twice on the Sunday after his death:

  • First visit
Mary and other women arrived at the tomb to anoint Jesus' body with spices, but found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. They saw an angel who told them that Jesus had risen and to tell the disciples. Mary ran to tell Peter and John, who also went to the tomb. They saw the empty grave clothes, but didn't see Jesus or the angels.
  • Second visit
Mary returned to the tomb alone and weeping. Two angels appeared and spoke to her, and she turned to see Jesus, but didn't recognize him. Jesus revealed himself to her, and sent her to tell the disciples that he had risen.

And also what happened after the first visist when they went back to tell the Apostles...

(Luke 24:10-11) "It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. {11} And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not."

They where mocked.. So maybe they again returned a second time to confirm to themselves, that they where not hallucinating..

In the end to get the apostle Peter to come and look they had to report that the body of Jesus had been stolen..

(John 20:2) "Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him."

This did the trick and got Peter to come running to the tomb so he could see the situation for himself..
