Acts 13:17-24

New King James Version

17 The God of this people [a]Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with [b]an uplifted arm He brought them out of it. 18 Now for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness. 19 And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land to them by allotment.

20 “After that He gave them judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. 21 And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ 23 From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior—Jesus— 24 after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
“The book of the generation of Jesus Christ,

the ( promised ) son of David,

the ( promised ) son of Abraham.”

Galatians 4:4-5

New King James Version

4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Thank you for creating this forum, brother!

Merry Christmas, brethren!
This thread yes I’m glad you participated in it brother as I always am when you’re able to !

“And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

…..Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: that the blessing of Abraham ( father of many nations ) might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

….For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:8-9, 13-14, 16, 26-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Just trying to bring up the birthday boy
I get that, but, according to scripture, Jesus was not born on December 25th, and this is a forum where scripture ought to not only matter, but be promoted. Anyhow, perhaps we can discuss this some other time on some other thread. I need to head out for the day (and definitely not to celebrate Christmas).

In the defence of all Christian's here and elsewhere who choose on dec 25th to celebrate Christmas as a time to bring glad tidings and joy to others.
Gathering together as family and friends , giving God the glory and honor, supping with strangers and foe alike, reminding the world that a savior which is Christ the Lord had been born and sharing his story in hopes of adding to the kingdom, bringing hope into a darken world, who seize the moment and opportunity which has been passed down in history as a tribute to God for his kindness and mercy who has transformed a little known pagan celebration into the truth of his promise to all nations.
Godspeed and keep on keeping on.

The more light you let in the more darkness flees.

“For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:

but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.”
‭‭Isaiah‬
‭60:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

….For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:2, 6-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

700-600 bc the word of the prophet Isaiah

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Bout 600-700 years later

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Emmanuel,

which being interpreted is, God with us.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:21-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:9-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Yea, because we all know that God uses lies to promote truth, right?

Bidding Godspeed to liars is not the way to go. It is a shame that I need to be saying as much on a Christian forum, but nothing surprises me anymore.
sure, because giving thanks to God, celebrating the birth of Christ, is a bad thing to do..

you guys are too much.

you probably think one has to keep the dietary laws and the Sabbath to be right with God....

Agreed.

The ancient people celebrated winter solstice. That date is December 21st.

There's really no relationship to Christmas in that the rest afforded shorter days in winter due to Earth's maximum tilt away from the created sun of God is not at all the same thing as the birth of the Son of God.

Celebrate Christmas if you want to. There's nothing wrong with it since the three Magi gave gifts to Jesus on his birthday.

No...I think it's a shame that you would find the time to criticize but not explain why we are liars.
I don't think that anyone here thinks that Jesus was born on dec 25th. In fact I bet if you took a poll in your neighbor hood maybe just maybe you might get 1 possible 2 people that that know about the pagan holiday.
But if they say santa and the reign deer gig......that's on you.

I have never said nor implied such a thing.

Luk 2:8
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luk 2:9
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
Luk 2:10
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luk 2:12
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Luk 2:13
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luk 2:14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

The heavenly host praised God and gave glory to him while heralding the birth of Jesus Christ, and I fully embrace and rejoice in their good tidings of great joy. However, this did not occur on or about December 25th, and that is the actual issue here. No, that date has everything to do with pagan sun worship (and Satan worship) and nothing at all to do with the actual date of Christ's birth.
you guys are too much.
Why? Because we stand for biblical truth and against repackaged, sun worshipping paganism?
you probably think one has to keep the dietary laws and the Sabbath to be right with God....
I think no such thing.

Why would I need to explain it when you explained it in your next comment?
I don't think that anyone here thinks that Jesus was born on dec 25th.
There you go. If none of you believe that Jesus was born on December 25th, then why do you celebrate that day as if it is the day of his birth? That sounds like a fair and legitimate question to me.
In fact I bet if you took a poll in your neighbor hood maybe just maybe you might get 1 possible 2 people that that know about the pagan holiday.
You would lose that bet because people are not nearly as ignorant as you seemingly think them to be. In reality, there are multitudes of people (Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, etc.) who are well aware of the pagan origins of Christmas, and for many of them it is but one of many stumbling blocks which potentially keeps them from coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ. In other words, they see Christianity as just a repackaged pagan belief system which is centered around sun worship. This is not just a theory. I have personally spoken to many such people. As a Christian, should I not be concerned about their souls? Should I personally cling to that which both they and I know is pagan; thereby losing an opportunity to potentially share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them? Like I said, people are not nearly as ignorant as you seemingly think them to be.

Ditto, and may I be the first to wish you and all CC folks a happy NY filled with many blessings!
Exo 12:2
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

If your Happy New Year wishes do not coincide with the day in which God says the new year begins, then they are premature.

so, do you live your life using the Hebrew calendar and the Sacred calendar??
That depends upon what you mean by your question. I do believe that the Hebrew calendar, as given to us in scripture, is the calendar which was ordained by God, and I also believe that Christians ought to reference it in order to properly assess time from God's vantage point. However, I doubt that this is why you asked your question. Should I be expecting a follow up question about the names of the days of the week and the like? Whatever the case may be, from God's perspective, the new year begins in the Spring, and, of course, this makes perfect rational sense. Furthermore, I personally believe that the first day of God's calendar year is the actual day when Christ was born, and that belief is based upon several different portions of scripture.
