It'd be good to know the software of this forum.
Is this a XenForo forum software?

This type of error also has something to do with the ForumStyles of this forum which are in CSS format.
Maybe the Admin can change to the default style in the testing environment to see if it works instead of this custom display style.
Or the custom display style needs to be updated to the latest CSS standards.
I know that updates are kinda slow around here :giggle: but i'm just suggesting common troubleshooting steps.

If the admins have changed nothing on their end for this to happen, it's most likely an outdated custom CSS style which is not compatible with the latest update that MS Edge got this month.

Since this site is using custom reactions it looks like with a custom style page, i would think that it's very likely that the CSS style of this page is not compatible with some new update that MS Edge got this month.

This is what the default emojis looks like when you launch Developer Mode (F12) in Microsoft Edge.

I have Edge too. Problem occurred right after one of MS frequent updates. Using Wave now with no problems.
I'm in Firefox but videos are not displaying. Ugh LOL. I have to go back to Edge to see vids .:p

One thing people can possibly do as a short term work-around is, if there are already reactions on somebody's post,
and your desired reaction is already selected by someone else, you can simply click it, and it will add yours to the total.

Of course this only works if the reaction you want to leave has already been selected by another.

Very aggravating for sure. When I'm on Wave the reaction icons appear but apparently this version has an inferior spell and punctuation checker.

Been a little busy but i just checked from another computer right now, running Edge and the emojis are working fine.
I'll try to find out what are the differences. Most likely the version of Edge.

Yup. I updated Edge on this computer and the emojis don't work.
So this confirms that the latest Edge update from September 19 caused this issue. Everyone in the world is going to slowly get this update eventually which is why some users here may experience this issue and others don't .... yet.

Whatever shall we do??! Without reactions, how will we convey our feelings about someone's post?

Oh wait... There's always replies. Takes more effort though. Skip it.

Actually I don't use Edge. I first noticed this problem on my Android phone where the emojis are hidden and only the hover tags show up. Then today on my laptop I started getting where I can't see the emojis except for a very quick flash, I can't even reliably give a response every time, and I get this weird warning about having to wait 3 seconds which may or may not be related. Both are Google Chrome. At the moment it all seems to work fine in Firefox.

All chromium based browsers seem to be doing some major update but Firefox which is a non-chromium based browser is not affected.
Now, it would help if the administrators here told the public if they're changing anything on their end, but i think it's mainly related to the September 19 chromium update which everyone in the world is going to get. Everyone who is using a chromium based browser.
The 3 second thingy is also something that i get when i try to give a reaction too quickly, so that setting hasn't changed but it's more obvious now that people try to click the emojis quickly since they're hard to press and they disappear.

I'm on hp chromebook using chrome.
I only started really noticing problems with the emojis reactions yesterday.
This is what I see when I try to leave a reaction:

Screenshot 2024-10-10 2.30.44 PM.png

What I am finding to work (if I really want to leave a reaction that has not already been left by someone else) is if I click and hold a few seconds (I usually slowly count to 10) and then quick click as I let go, it shows up.
Then again, sometimes it takes me a few tries to make this trick work (and a few times I've had to just give up and use the "like" thumb others had previously left).

I know there was talk about getting a new live chat started, and I wonder if that is causing site hiccups?

Thank you for the screenshot.
Looks to me that this chromium based update is now exhibiting itself in this format too.
Basically the reactions on the site are using javascript and CSS (cascade style sheets). Because the chromium browsers have been updated, the error seems to show itself in two ways so far. One is the disappearing emojis and the other is the 3 second timeout.
Both cases are using javascript.

Personally i don't think any of these issues that people are experiencing are related to anything the owners are doing on this site, but they can clear this up with a simple comment.
I just don't think it's related because if you downgrade your browser before September 19, then everything works fine.

Uggghhhh
And I used to like using the emoticons.

Any hope of a patch to fix all this?

I miss the things....after all the clock needs to be used.
