We have a very good definition of faith from God Himself. Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.” Matthew 7 is a very good example showing the true fact that faith alone does not save. Exactly as James 2:24 says. Jesus does not condemn their “faith”, or even say anything about the kind of faith they had. He condemns them for not “abiding in the doctrine of Christ 2 John 1:9. He is condemning their practices, their works, not their faith. They were believers, but they were lost. As John says “They don’t have God” because they don’t have God’s authority for what they are doing. They are working “ out side” of His law.
“We have a very good definition of faith from God Himself. Hebrews 11:1 “
why not move beyond one verse ?
“But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for
he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 KJV
“So then
faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by
the word of God.”
Romans 10:17
As we hear the consistent doctrine found in the gospel it’s meant to change how we
believe . we’re meant to believe what Jesus is telling people which changes our hearts and minds regarding God , the world , what happens after we pass away , ourselves and our identity ect
for instance
the gospel declares to believers in Jesus
“But
as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his name:
which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but
of God.”
John 1:12-13 KJV
We need to actually hear what he said tbough in the gospel and believe him like this stuff
“And call no man your father upon the earth: for
one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
Matthew 23:9 KJV
“Even so
it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”
Matthew 18:14 KJV
“
for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.”
Matthew 6:32 KJV
“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”
Matthew 6:26 KJV
“After
this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”
Matthew 6:9 KJV
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 KJV
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall
your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
Matthew 7:11 KJV
“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of
your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:1
“And when ye stand praying,
forgive, if ye have ought against any:
that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
But if ye do not forgive, neither will
your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Mark 11:25-26
“For
whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same
is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
Matthew 12:50 KJV
This builds faith in our minds and hearts because we believe him and we begin to have faith and understand we are the children of God he loves us , he came to save us . It becomes part of our faith and renewed spirit because we believe
“
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God:”
Romans 8:16 KJV
but this is just one subject it’s like that with everything as we are willing to listen to the lord he changes us from within
