I have a kenwood ddx 396 head unit with rainbow germanium 2 way components and kicker cs 6.75 rear fill and eton m10 flat subs in small sealed boxes all on a cab 165 5 channel amp. It makes for great worship time in the car when you do an aftermarket set up. All this is going in the begining of august i cant wait.

Well... I mean... I have a stereo, it came with the car.

I prefer to use a single earbud, so I can hear an ambulance if it's behind me, connected to a phone playing my whole music collection. Just makes the drive time fly by, and I'm at my destination (and the day is over) before I know it.

I actually just changed up some things and went with the ddx 396 headunit with cdt 2 inch wide bands they are called the cdt unity 7.5 speakers and im going to use the rainbow 6.5 speakers without their dedicated tweeters and use the tweeters in the 2 inch widebands with the cab 165 5 channel amp with the eton m10 flat subs. This isnt a banger system but a sound quality system first and foremost. (the 2 inch wide bands will be on their own amp channels and so will the 6.5 rainbow speakers and the eton subs will be on the 5th channel)

I got sixteen speakers
Crossing my back dash
A little bopping dog
Watching everybody pass
I got dual antennas
Whippin in the wind
Well there ain't a country station
That I can't tune in
She ain't a cadillac
And she ain't a rolls
But there ain't nothin wrong
With the radio

Oh come on! That was a really popular song back in the day...

The prettiest girl
In my hometown
I asked her last time
I took her out
I said what you think it is
Makes you love me so
She said there ain't nothin wrong
With the radio

Got stopped by a cop
Late last night
Out of date tags
And no tail light
He said I oughta run you in
But I'm lettin you go
Because there ain't nothin wrong
With the radio

Is this English? Haha.

I can talk about what's under the hood but all that mumbo-jumbo ☝️has me confused!

My last puddle jumper for work had the radio/stereo removed. Made a nice little place to put items.

I have a nicer puddle jumper for work now that has a functioning radio but I rarely turn it on.

I like to drive in silence. Time to think.

From what I can gather, thinking is old-fashioned now. That's why earbuds are so popular. It keeps the thoughts at bay.

So, now that you ask.....

I got a Pioneer CD stereo installed with a set of 4 new speakers. The price was to the moon. Might as well be working with criminals in the underworld. O.k., maybe a little dramatic, but they charge a pretty penny (more like a half ounce of gold).

Only reason I spent the money, because the stereo was failing, and I had a couple of blown speakers. Had no choice, well, at least that's the story I'm sticking to. Probably should of waited until, I get a new vehicle, but whoever buys my old ride, will have good sounds. Lucky them...

If I had to do it again, I think I would of got a JBL stereo, but live and learn.

Stringray, you sound like you got a good system, with some solid bass. You don't need to go overboard, or it will probably get stolen. I would say, that getting new speakers, even if your car is brand new, might be a good option, if you have a basic system. After market speakers were definitely worth it. It gives a much fuller sound.

I used to be into car stereo years ago. That sounds like a nice system. I never had anything impressive. Just an alpine radio/head unit, four 6" 3-way speakers, a 10" subwoofer in a sealed enclosure and an alpine amp. All in my tiny honda crx.

Oh wow, this topic brings back memories.... :giggle:

I remember when the worry about getting your stereo system stolen from your car was such a big deal in the 80s and 90s. My first car had an 8-track tape cartridge stereo so I never had to worry about it being stolen, lol!

These days it's all about what kind of phone you have.

I mean, there are some teenagers who still keep trying to represent with booming speakers, but the rest just look at them funny.

Me, I have an earbud in my ear and a cheap phone. So I'm out of the loop no matter how you look at it.
