Major AI News #25 - Gemini Upgrades, GPT Store Leaks, Realtime AI Phonecalls and More

One Plausible scenario

People have fully missed the point, the singularity is not when we reach AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).

The singularity for each person is when AI can replace their job. We have already reached that for Cashiers.

We now have the technology to replace so many more jobs. It doesn't matter if you want to call that machine learning, the point is the minute it is cheaper and safer to replace your job with AI we have reached the singularity, because AI will be able to do it faster and easier.

The second point they miss is a derivative of the first. It doesn't matter if AI can replace 100% of what you can do, if it can replace 50% of what you can do then they will replace 50% of the people that do what you do.

The crisis comes when you see layoffs and no new jobs. We are already seeing this in China because 3d printers can replace a large amount of what they do.

The third point they miss is the crisis does not come when AI can replace 50% of your workers. The crisis comes when AI can replace 3% of the white collar workers. About 2.7% of the workforce is college graduates that graduate each year. Imagine you have paid 200-300k in college loans and now you graduate and no one is hiring, no jobs for college graduates. As bad as it is this year it is projected to get exponentially worse, with layoffs in six months. Generally when there is a recession people are laid off and so production goes down too. But these people are replaced with AI and the ROI on that investment is if they are producing at full capacity. So when you replace 3% of your work force with AI which can do the work of 4 workers, you have actually increased your production while your demand will not be increasing. So you need to lay off 9% of your workers. 3% unemployment will rapidly become 12%. But if 12% are unemployed you can expect demand for goods to shrink, so there will be a second round of layoffs with a lot of bankruptcies. Now think about all those college loans. There is $1.6 trillion in college loans and in a matter of 12 months everyone with a college loan will realize they will not be able to pay that back. If no one from college is getting a job who will pay for college, who will loan money for college and who will go to college? You will have a banking crisis and you will see college enrollment plummet in a matter of two years. Almost everyone going to college is getting some kind of financing, the banks will realize very quickly that the $1.6 trillion is a time bomb and will stop loaning and that will cause a widespread collapse in college enrollment. About 3% of the countries work force is employed in these "higher education" institutions. They will collapse.

Timeline -- This summer it becomes very hard for a college graduate to get a job. Pink slips go out six months later laying off 9% of the countries workforce. Banks stop making college loans in 2025. In June of 2025 it becomes obvious college graduates are not getting white collar jobs. Enrollment plummets in Fall of 2025 and many colleges lay off professors and even shut their doors. By June of 2026 graduation ceremonies look like funeral processions, bankruptcies are sky high as people do not pay off student loans, banks go belly up, and a great number of these colleges and universities shut their doors. Meanwhile AI is doing 50% of the jobs and the amount of demand has dropped so much that companies only have a skeleton crew. Unemployment is much higher than 50%.

Here is the kicker. We have a world economy. What you are seeing in China impacts the US. If we stop buying from China they in turn will stop buying from us and stop buying our bonds. Same is true of Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, India, etc.

We are already past the point of replacing 3% of the global workforce.

The good news -- You will get a clear warning

There is a canary in the coal mine, when you see a crisis with the canary you know you have trouble.

China -- you'll see people unable to get jobs, you'll see cities collapsing and housing projects collapse and foreign companies leaving China. You will see them move their young men into a massive army and you will see all the young children dying from some new bioweapon.

Ecuador and Peru -- You'll see chaos, Martial law, etc.

Poland -- You'll see the globalist seize power in Poland and force the EU to take the digital dollar to give them control over the people.

Canada -- You'll see other countries like Canada appearing to be more and more authoritarian, censoring the press, arresting people, seizing their bank accounts, etc.

US -- You will see millions of these displaced workers flood into the US

You will see billionaires buying up agricultural land as a key asset knowing that the stock market and bond market will collapse. You will see billionaires buying bunkers to sit out the "adjustment" to the new reality. You will see wars over agricultural regions like Ukraine.

BlackRock cuts 3% of global staff, citing industry changes

https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/09/investing/blackrock-cuts-600-jobs/index.html#:~:text=“For the first time in,a statement at the time.&text=BlackRock also laid off about,or 500 people, last January.

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, will lay off about 600 employees as it seeks to reshuffle its resources in response to technological changes in the financial industry.

“We see our industry changing faster than at any time since the founding of BlackRock,” wrote CEO Larry Fink and President Rob Kapito in an internal memo reviewed by CNN. “As we prepare for 2024 and this very exciting but distinctly different landscape, businesses across the firm have developed plans to reallocate resources.”

New technologies “are poised to transform our industry,” the executives added.

ETFs are often designed to track an index, like the S&P 500, which can be done through automation. That passive approach requires less active decision-making and reduces the need for large teams of analysts.

BlackRock also laid off about 2.5% of its workforce, or 500 people, last January.

(The 500 laid off last January replaced by AI which was trained and now replaces 600. Imagine that, a year ago AI was at the level of a very bright high school kid. Now it is at the level of a very bright college graduate. At this rate it will be at the level of top graduate school graduates by next January).

Another massive issue

If IBM hires you for 100k a year, the 100k is an expense, it cuts down their tax liability, but you will have to pay taxes on that 100k. If on the other hand they buy AI for 100k that is an expense, they can depreciate it and reduce their tax liability. But the AI does not pay taxes.

True, the company they bought it from will pay taxes on their profit, but their profit will be a small percentage of that 100k as they plow more money back into the business. So whereas you pay taxes based on the full 100k, they may only pay taxes on perhaps 7% of that. But it is worse because next year they will pay 0.

There is going to be a crisis in tax revenue.

"Illegals are taking over America's schools by the BUS LOADS" SHOCKING FOOTAGE | Redacted

I have a different theory about why they are doing this.

1. 8 million to 10 million people coming to the US indicates people who have been dislocated by AI and machine learning and 3d printers. The way you keep the pressure off from NAFTA imploding, let them all come to the US.

2. People think the politicians are letting them in to buy their votes, I don't think so, I think that is too transparent to work. Instead I think they are being brought here so that when people in this country lose their jobs they will blame the illegals instead of the AI. Divide and conquer.

Tech Layoffs Surpass 250,000 in 2023

When you have a job replaced by AI, the AI does the work of 4 people for every person it replaces. This article was 3 weeks ago so may not be including the layoffs that took place at Jan 1.

Google Lays Off Hundreds in Hardware, Voice Assistant Teams

This is much more focused on AI.

"They are focused on profit over revenue growth" -- As AI is adopted you will not have revenue growth because the market will shrink instead of grow. What AI can do is cut your costs and therefore improve profit, especially in a shrinking market.

Consider this, there are hundreds of thousands of tech workers laid off trying to figure out what to do, many will begin working with AI in research and development for ways that AI can replace someone else's job.

Trimming Workforce for Profits? Amazon, Google Drive Hundreds Out of Jobs |Vantage with Palki Sharma

Remember the math. Every job replaced by AI will result in 4 people losing their jobs.

Amazon has sacked 27,000 employees in 2023. Google sacked 12,000 (6%) of its workforce.

As people lose jobs the demand will shrink, but if the people are being replaced by AI the production will not shrink, therefore you will need to sack more people. To make things worse replacing a worker with AI will have a 93% drop in tax revenue from that job in the first year and close to 100% drop the second. So State and Federal tax revenues will be hit hard. Also remember that once AI can replace 3% of the jobs you will begin this catastrophic negative feedback loop where the more jobs that AI does the more jobs that will be lost and therefore demand will fall and they will have to cut more jobs. Finally, the cherry on top. These people who are losing their jobs are equipped to train AI to take other jobs and they will have to do that to support their families. So the more the Tech sector cuts jobs the faster AI will be developed and trained to take more jobs.

Listen to the end. "if they are making so much money why are they firing people". Answer, they are firing people because it helps them make so much money.

Meet the Overlords

Sam Altman and Bill Gates Talk AI | Is GPT-5 close?

He says that right now AI can do "tasks" not jobs. Interesting distinction.

As a HS teacher we had several tasks.

1. Grading student work -- AI can definitely do 100% of that.

2. Analyzing Data -- AI can definitely do 85% of that.

3. Notifying Parents -- AI can definitely do 85% of that.

4. Teaching class -- Surprisingly, AI can do 85% of that. For example, teachers will have several models for a class structure, you don't do the same thing every day, but you generally will have about 3 class models that you do very frequently, even every week. One model I had was students enter the room and there are three short answer questions related to one problem. They would work through these and they had to complete this 100% correct before I give them a laptop. When they bring it up to me I would correct it, identify things that needed to be fixed, give them some direction on how to fix it, and then they would have to return to their desk to fix it. AI could do that. Then once that is done you get an assignment that was made on Adobe Captivate, an Elearning suite. Obviously the AI could do that entire class, and of course AI could do the entire class where I administer a test. Basically all you need the teacher for is human interaction.

Obviously the AI could do that entire class, and of course AI could do the entire class where I administer a test. Basically all you need the teacher for is human interaction.
The third basic model for the class was a derivative of the "lecture". What we have learned is students learn by doing, not by listening. So my lectures were at most 15 minutes and often tried to get it down to 5 minutes. In other words you do a very short lecture to introduce a couple of key concepts and then you give the students some exercises for them to do that they must apply those concepts. At first they find this confusing, it is almost as though you didn't teach them anything and yet you are asking them questions. But once they get the hang of this they learn that every word you speak is essential for them to solve the upcoming problems.

The "lecture" can be a youtube video, and the exercises can be on a powerpoint. During this model I don't have them work independently, either you work as an entire class or you work in small groups.

This is where you will have a lot of give and take with students asking questions, having problems and needing alternative illustrations. Although this might seem like something AI would have the most trouble with you could video tape these lessons. I would think after videotaping these lessons taught to 10 classes of 30 students the AI would be able to perform well. If you did your research and development at a single school of 1200 students you could probably get the 300 students for this training in a single year. The school could be scheduled to cover the class in a two month period. It could then be rolled out to five more schools using that same schedule with the one subject in a two month period. In this way the AI would be very well trained after one school year.

I would think that during the second year you would still want a teacher for this class, but after that year the subject could be taught exclusively by AI, 100%.

AI is a graven image, another god

20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Be careful, AI is clearly going to become and for some has already become "another god" that they have put before the God that is the incarnation of this word.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

A graven image refers to a "carved" image. You can view the pen that is writing the code for AI as a carving tool. This can also refer to a molten image because they carve what they want in wood, then they pack it in sand or clay, remove the carved image and pour molten metal into the cavity. So after making one carved image you can then make multiple copies of a molten image. This is what a computer program is. It took me a lot of time to make my computer lesson using Captivate, more time than I would have spent making a lesson plan. But once it is made 150 students can access it separately and that is where it paid off. Instead of me asking and answering the same question 150 times the computer did that. The first year it was more work, but by the second it was less, and by the third much less. This freed me up to do "less important tasks" like updating the grade book and notifying parents. Both of which helped students and parents. A molten image like a coin can be used over and over again, and holds up very well to repetitive use.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Do you realize they are all about to "serve" AI, this graven image they have made? You can claim that AI is serving you, but when it controls everything you wind up serving it. How many generations has it been since the holocaust? Those sins will be visited on the third and fourth generations.

GI generation -- those that fought in WW2 (100-120 right now)

Silent generation -- too young to fight in WW2, too old for the 60s. (81-100 right now)

Baby Boomers -- born during the economic book after WW2, hippies, rock n roll music, civil rights movements, etc. (60-80 right now)

Generation X -- The third generation from the WW2 generation. AIDS epidemic, MTV generation

Millennials -- the fourth generation from WW2. The rise of the internet, 911, dependent on technology, entitled and narcissistic. They are in their 20s, 30s and 40s right now.
