I noticed the thread concerning vv. 4-6 that seems to be preventing you from "pressing on" as v. encourages that we should do. It's understandable why many might get 'stuck' here though. Whenever I've gotten stuck on any certain verse that is apparently condemning me, I would've liked to close the book the same I would cover my eyes while watching a horror movie but, I "press on" and keep reading. And, without fail, I'd eventually get to the place where I find peace. He is the Prince of Peace, after all. Have you tried reading on into Chapter 7, 8, and 9?

These elaborate of Jesus eternal priesthood of the new covenant, separating Him from the earthly priests that governed the old covenant and explaining its distinctions. Earthly priests offered sacrifices, over and over again for their own sins as well as the sins of the people. Would you think you'd have a better chance at mercy with them?

No one can crucify Jesus, nor expose him to public shame, ever again, even though vv. 4-6 "speaks this way...we are confident of better things concerning you...(v.9)." He is residing as the Priest of better promises, greater than any of the earthly priests could guarantee, and He will never die.

I encourage you to continue reading of a superior priesthood and the power of an indestructible life (Heb 7:16) and
"1The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2and who ministers in the sanctuary and true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man (Heb 8)." and of the new covenant that, "6Now, however, Jesus has received a much more excellent ministry, just as the covenant He mediates is better and is founded on better promises (Heb 8)."

and of how the blood of Christ has power to " purify our consciences from works of death, so that we may serve the living God! (Heb 9:14b).

Romans 8~~38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It's unfortunate that the Greek is translated "impossible" here. In my opinion it should be "very difficult." Every time someone turns their back on the Lord and rejects Him it becomes more and more difficult to return, but not impossible. We know that all things are possible with God. (Matthew 19:26)

Yes, beloved of the Lord. Repent and ask your Father in heaven to forgive you. He will. He longs to be gracious to you and has been waiting for you to return a long, long time.

Psalm 103:8-12 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

You can only be born again one time. Once born again, you cannot be unborn. Once in Christ, you cannot be taken out of Christ. The Hebrew passage is not to the body of Christ. It is to.....HEBREWS. Chapter 1 gives us the audience and context of the book. Rejoice that you have seen your past and now your desire to walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. Seek the Lord and his word. Seek to fellowship with those who are likeminded in the Lord. You will grow in your faith and hopefully, not find yourself drifting away ever again.

the warning passages are designed to keep us from presumption. the promises are designed to keep us from despair.

it's a mistake, i believe, to use the warning passages to try to discern whether or not we can be saved. perhaps you need a good dose of the promises? the Lord Jesus will never, can never fail His people. if you have a desire to belong to Him, He will accept you.

if you were born again, You still are.

You were given eternal life and the seal of the spirit as a pledge..

I was a prodigal son for a few years myself. God never left me..

Heb 6:4-6 . . For it is impossible for those who have once been
enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy
Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of
the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because
to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God afresh and subjecting him to
public disgrace.

We know that with God nothing is impossible. So, I think we have to
acquiesce that the impossibility spoken of here is so because God has made
it His mission in life, so to speak, to assure that folks blessed with the level
of advantages spoken of are never to be given an opportunity to reconsider
-- ever!

A pretty good parallel to this is exemplified in the first generation of Moses'
people who lost out on the promised land for refusing take it when they had
the opportunity. When it's taken into consideration all that God had done for
the people up to that point it's understandable that He would pull the plug.

1Cor 10:11-12 . . These things happened to them as examples and were
written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has
come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!

There are some really questionable translations of this passage. This is the one I find most closely represents the original Greek which implies someone who continues to crucify Christ.

V6 ...and then have fallen away — it is impossible to renew them so that they turn from their sin, as long as for themselves they keep executing the Son of God on the stake all over again and keep holding him up to public contempt.

No man is sinless. What is required is to repent when we recognize our sin, even if it is not new. We then can seek redemption through His blood. No repentance and we continue to crucify him in our heart.

Praise YHWH and his Son, it has never been "one and done." It is instead God's grace.

I really should drop back and add some comments to post No.11

Although that first generation out of Egypt with Moses failed to obtain the
benefits they would've enjoyed in the promised land, they didn't lose their
freedom, i.e. God didn't return them to slavery; nor did He abandon them to
the outback.

God continued to worry about them, He continued to sympathize with them,
He continued to provide for them, He continued to direct them, He continued
to counsel them, He continue to fight for them, He continued to
accompany them everywhere they went; and best of all He stayed in touch.

Their forty-year journey thru this world became what is sometimes called a
wilderness experience. It wasn't ideal, but at least they weren't lost.

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

Pleaee help I’m trying to figure out if I can be saved according to Hebrews 6
I was born again at 19 but fell away into unbelief for 30 years into new age lies.
Of course you are saved here is what Jesus said for those who have fallen away and are found again or returned;
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
Luk 15:1 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were gathering around to listen to Jesus.
Luk 15:2 So the Pharisees and scribes began to grumble: “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
Luk 15:3 Then Jesus told them this parable:
Luk 15:4 “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?
Luk 15:5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders,
Luk 15:6 comes home, and calls together his friends and neighbors to tell them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep!’
Luk 15:7 In the same way, I tell you that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son
Luk 15:11 Then Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons.
Luk 15:12 The younger son said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
Luk 15:13 After a few days, the younger son got everything together and journeyed to a distant country, where he squandered his wealth in wild living.
Luk 15:14 After he had spent all he had, a severe famine swept through that country, and he began to be in need.
Luk 15:15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed the pigs.
Luk 15:16 He longed to fill his belly with the pods the pigs were eating, but no one would give him a thing.
Luk 15:17 Finally he came to his senses and said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have plenty of food? But here I am, starving to death!
Luk 15:18 I will get up and go back to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
Luk 15:19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’
Luk 15:20 So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
Luk 15:21 The son declared, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
Luk 15:22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Luk 15:23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let us feast and celebrate.
Luk 15:24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again! He was lost and is found!’ So they began to celebrate.
Luk 15:25 Meanwhile the older son was in the field, and as he approached the house, he heard music and dancing.
Luk 15:26 So he called one of the servants and asked what was going on.
Luk 15:27 ‘Your brother has returned,’ he said, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has him back safe and sound.’
Luk 15:28 The older son became angry and refused to go in. So his father came out and pleaded with him.
Luk 15:29 But he answered his father, ‘Look, all these years I have served you and never disobeyed a commandment of yours. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.
Luk 15:30 But when this son of yours returns from squandering your wealth with prostitutes, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
Luk 15:31 ‘Son, you are always with me,’ the father said, ‘and all that is mine is yours.
Luk 15:32 But it was fitting to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Have no doubt The lord has called you and Loves you.

Blessings and Welcome!

Pleaee help I’m trying to figure out if I can be saved according to Hebrews 6
I was born again at 19 but fell away into unbelief for 30 years into new age lies.
There are two in Hebrews people get stuck on and can cause great fear. Willingly sin we all do this from time to time. Its those that have heard and know Christ is the only sacrifice for that sin yet reject it. There is nothing left but judgement. He was talking to Jews that were saved and after they sinned they would try to go back and offer a sacrifice for that sin. He told them here is no more sacrifice for that sin Christ can not die again. By doing that they put Him to open shame.

Now those that have only tasted. Judas would be a good example of this. See they don't want to repent. They know and have tasted and reject what Christ has done for the world. Your not like this at all. One thing to know is He will never turn anyone away that comes to Him. He never left you He was not nor is He made at you. He does not condemn you. That desire to come to or back to Him where do you think it came from? Yeah Him and you listen. Oh the words to this song right now "I got lost along the way, I feel lonely and so afraid, and I've had all I can take. So love take hold of me tonight, cleanse my soul and make it right"

There is none righteous not one. We all are righteous because we all believe in trust in Jesus Christ. So tell that fear to leave in Jesus name for you have been bought with a price. Do you really think something that cost so much would be tossed away by some sin be it a day or years? When I was in collage and there was no cell phones no Internet just TV and radio yet all I had was a radio and this preacher we all know said "I don't think anyone has fallen/sinned as much as I have. Just get up dust off keep going". Yeah He is looking at you with so much love saying "who is condemning you?" Not Him.. how did He treat the son that got lost yet came back?

YEAH! Toss out that guilt that fear its not of HIM! I pray He sends friends believers washed in the blood Baptized in the Holy Spirit to help you and a word Church if you don't have one. He loves you He is for you has never been against you. You think you left or fell away He never left you. We all fall for some it can really be a long time but.. we get up dust off (repent) keep going. Keep your eyes on HIM! Read pray always. You will get great peace..

Gen 6:1-2 . . Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face
of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that
the daughters of men were good; and they took wives for themselves,
whomever they chose.

** The label "son of God" is somewhat ambiguous in the Old Testament. For
example in Job 1:6 & Job 38:7 it pertains to angels, whereas in Ex 4:22-23
an entire people are identified as God's son, and in Psalm 82 authorities are
sons of God, while in Psalm 89 king David is God's son.

The characteristics of the "sons of God" here in Genesis have been debated.
Some say they were members of the aristocracy of that day who married
attractive women from among the commoners. Others say they were
renegade spirit creatures who donned fully functioning human avatars so
they could cohabit with women; thus producing a hybrid strain of hominid
freaks. Others say they were God-fearing men who threw caution to the
wind and built themselves harems of pagan women.

The latter seems the more likely seeing as how intermarriage between
believers and unbelievers is often frowned upon in both the Old Testament
and the New.

Hooking up men of faith with infidel women is a proven tactic for watering
down, compromising, and even extinguishing Bible beliefs and practices
(e.g. Num 31:7 16). The people of God are strictly, unequivocally, and
clearly forbidden to marry outside their faith. (Deut 7:1-4, 2Cor 6:14-18)

Women can be very effective in influencing an otherwise pious man to
compromise his convictions; for example Solomon got off to a good start but
down the road accumulated a harem of foreign women who led him into
idolatry; which subsequently caused The Lord to engineer rebellion in the
kingdom. (1Kgs 11 & 12)

The sons of God in Noah's day-- whose wives were chosen based solely upon
sensual allure sans any spiritual prudence whatsoever --all perished in the
Flood right along with their infidel wives and children. Not even one of them
had the good sense to go aboard the ark with Noah.

1Cor 10:11-12 . . These things happened to them as examples and were

come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!

Impossible doesn't refer to salvation directly. One can still be saved. What is impossible is that if you reject Jesus, there is simply no where else to find salvation. Acts 4:12...Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
This is what makes it impossible. If you reject Jesus, there simply is no other choice but death.
