To be the church leader. Peter himself was a meek and cowardly man, but Jesus nevertheless gave him they keys.
Do you really think Christians have the authority to decide what's been bound and loosed in heaven?
Christ gives His sheep (saints/Elect) the authority.

Which Peter are you talking about? Certainly not the Peter that followed Jesus.... THAT Peter was certainly not meek, or cowardly.
The one who denied Jesus 3 times and sided with the Judaisers (Galatians 2:11-21) and had to have Paul rebuke him to his face.

Same Peter that in Acts 10:12 disobeyed God 3 times as well.

Totally, absolutely incorrect, out of context, false, whatever other adjective you can come up with...
Papists are NOTHING as authority figures. At least not in the church that Jesus built.
Prove it then.

We do not have the power to bind and lose - we do not decide what is sin and what is not. We cannot forgive sins like disciples could. Do you really think you can?

Actually, it's why they have no authority to choose. Just as Jesus chose Peter, He chose Paul. And He has chosen ever since.
The Papel line is not spiritual. That alone should tell you it wasn't chosen by Christ.
Just because they are corrupt doesn't mean they weren't chosen by God. Plenty of corrupt rulers in the Bible were chosen by God.

They all disobeyed Jesus.

None of them stayed in power for centuries. We don't follow those rulers now, either.

You don't seem to understand the difference between old and physical and new and spiritual. This is the source of much apostacy.

Disobedience does not equal "cowardly"....
Yes, he denied Jesus out of fear for his life, but it was also his task to do so, to fulfil prophecy.
The same Peter that pulled a sword and struck off the ear of a servant in front of many Roman soldiers.....
The same Peter that stepped out of a boat and walked on water during a storm...

peddle your mis-information to someone else..... I'm not buying...

Do you spread the gospel, @NTNT58? …by whose authority?
Doesn't look like it. They believe unbelieving people will be convinced of God's
authority by showing them hidden codes in the Bible, which is what this thread
was made to be about. Whereas nothing in the Bible speaks of this. Does the RCC?
I don't think so. They (OP) seem to be doing it of their own authority! LOL
So they are saying, we are to follow RCC authority, while they themselves do not.

How about you prove that they ARE, other than your mis-understanding of scripture.
Scripture tells us we are ALL members of a royal priesthood, which means we are under NO authority of any "priest".

Not all Popes were corrupt.

If Jesus did give Peter the keys and his authority has been passed down then you are a heretic for not following those rulers.

How convenient of you to ignore the points you can't refute while pretending like you won the argument.

England
No, definitely NOT, which is why the Bible tells us to obey ALL authority.
What about Dietrich Bonhoeffer? Hitler was the “authority”, should he have resisted or let him get on with killing Jews?
