Hello, my name is Honey and I am new here. I am a teen and therefore probably younger than most of you. I am a foster system kid. My last home was a nightmare and I just got a fast placement far away from there. One of the first things they told me when I got here was: "We are Christians and you are expected to go to church." That was fine with me because by taking me so quick, it saved me from a bad situation and I am happy to do as she asked. Somehow Christian seems to imply a safer home. I was a bit scared though because it was also a big change for me. I did not know what to expect. A big step into the unknown - one I am completely ignorant about. Maybe God is what I need to straighten out my life. I was nervous about it for a whole week knowing how embarrassing it was going to be and then when Sunday came and I went to church it was a big disappointment. I guess the other people there must have been even more embarrassed than me because not one of them talked to me. I am still just as ignorant. The thing of it is, I don't know enough to even ask a real question. So when I found this place online I figured I could maybe hang with the Christians here and still possibly learn more about God. I read many things people posted here but those things still didn't help me much. I will try to remain patient. This seems like it has got to be a real first step and hopefully in the right direction.

Wow @HoneyBee, it sounds like you have had both a difficult and an interesting life so far (and you certainly seem like a very interesting person :)).

We're SO glad that you found us and joined in the discussions with us, and I wanted you to know that are most welcome here :giggle:

I'm part of the older crowd (I'm almost 67), but all of us, young and old, will look forward to getting to know you and to becoming friends with you. You might consider putting the words from your OP (above) on your Profile Page so that they can be read in the future (by people who don't know you yet so that they can have a better understanding of who you are/where you are coming from).

Please feel free to ask us anything that you'd like to about God/the Bible/the Christian faith, etc. (or anything else), and we'll do our best to answer them for you. And don't hesitate to ask us to make something clearer because we all tend to use a bit of Christian terminology when we talk here which, until you learn what it means, can be a bit confusing.

Make God bless you as you seek to find Him and know Him, our loving heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit!!

~Deuteronomy
p.s. - this is one of my favorite verses in the Bible, so I thought that I'd post it for you here (from the New Testament Gospel of John). If you have any questions about it, again, just ask :)

John 3
16 God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Hello Honey .:). Welcome to CC! I am sorry to hear about your previous foster care home situation,
and truly hope things work out better for you in your new placement. It seems a bit odd that nobody
spoke to you at church, but perhaps you are right about it being an awkward situation for everyone.
Kind of like how nobody really knows what to say when there has been a death in the family, or a
dear friend. I do think it is wonderful that you are open to learning about the Christian faith.
Would you be willing to watching a movie based on the gospel of John? It is really well done, and
one of the main Bible books that gets recommended for reading when people ask where to start.

^ Gospel of John

There is also a series of videos based on what is known as the Alpha Course.

They may be helpful to you as well, though they are chock full of info which may seem
a little overwhelming. Give them a go and take it easy on yourself, because there really
is a lot to take in, but they cover the bases and then some, delving fairly deep
.:D

There are 10 videos total. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly :)

Hello again @HoneyBee, my closing statement above was supposed to be a blessing to you (not a command to God ). It should have read, "MAY God bless you as you seek to find Him and know Him, our loving heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit!!"

You probably knew that because "making" God do something is, well, not really possible ;)

Sorry about that! And again,

May the Lord bless you as you seek to find Him and know Him (Numbers 6:24-26)!!

~Deuteronomy
p.s. - I will also use this opportunity to let you know that our editing time for posts here is 5 minutes, period. So, it's always best to do what I just failed to do, check your posts for mistakes before you make them ;)

God bless you Honey.
If you have a King James Bible, try to read the New Testament, prayerfully, ask God to open your spiritual eyes.
To show you the way of salvation.
Through the Lord Jesus Christ, repenting, God can give you His peace.
The forgiveness of sins.
It’s not complicated, we must believe, and thank Him for dying in our place.
The incorruptible blood He shed is in heaven today as payment for our sins.

Precious friend, A Very Warm Welcome To Chat.
If I may suggest an easy start with reading Ephesians chapters 1 and 2
prayerfully and carefully through several times, to begin your journey
"getting to know God," and what He Has Done for us...

Then, just ask questions; many will be willing to talk with you about Him...

Amen.

Hi, @HoneyBee , and welcome! I feel practically related to you already since my name is Bee. :) I’m really glad you’re open to learning about Jesus. Believe me, He’s the best, closest Friend you can ever possibly have. I’ve been a Christian since I was 12 years old, and now I’m older than @Deuteronomy ! I’ll be praying for you in your new home and your new church—that God will bless you with a kind and open heart that will endear you to your foster parents, foster siblings, and new friends—that He will bless you with people all around you willing to answer your questions and share their testimony of His love in their own lives. I’ll be praying that Jesus will become as real to you as the people you can actually see with your own eyes—and that He finds a place in your heart. He loves you SO much! And so do we!

I am so glad you have come, dear friend. I would be happy to share everything about God with you.

In the beginning (6,000 years ago), God made everything and it was very nice. He made all the animals and Adam and Eve and they were happy until they disobeyed God and spoiled this nice world. God decided make a way for men and women to come back and be close to Him again, but it costed Him a lot. God allowed His very own Son to be a living sacrifice to pay the price for our sin. His Son's name was Jesus. I's sure you have heard His name. He was with His Father when the world was made, back in the beginning.

Jesus came to Earth (2,000 years ago) in the form of a human baby and quickly grew up. He taught us many things and men wrote them down in the Bible. We call them the Gospels. My favorite Gospel about what Jesus said and did is the Gospel of John. It tells us about how God allowed Jesus to give up His life so we can be close to God and Jesus again.

John 3:
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Jesus allowed wicked men to kill Him because Jesus' pure and perfect blood was the only thing that could make things right again between us and God. Every person must accept this plan for himself or herself. I cannot do this for you, but you can talk to Jesus right now and make everything all right. It is just about Jesus and you. Jesus loves you and wants you to come to Him right now.

Revelation 3:20
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Just ask Jesus into your heart now and you will be saved. He will help you learn more and put His Spirit of understanding inside. That is what salvation is. That is what being a Christian is all about. Follow Him as He leads you through the rest of your life, dear friend. I will see you in Heaven! :)(y)

Hello again HoneyBee, OP = Opening Post. It's the very first post in a thread. Your first post at the top of this thread (post #1 at the top of this thread, that is), is the OP of this particular thread.

As for your Profile Page, it can be found by clicking here: HoneyBee - Christian Chat Rooms & Forums

Perhaps the easiest way to get to your profile page in the future is by clicking on your name and/or your avatar/picture (which in your case is a big yellow circle with an H in it right now), and then by clicking on your name again (your name will appear at the top of a little window). This is also the way that you can get to someone else's profile page, by clicking on their name or their avatar. For instance, try clicking on my name or avatar/picture just to the left here, and then click on my name (Deuteronomy) again, and you'll be there.

I hope that helps a bit :) If not, please let me know and I'll try again.

God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit are what we all need to straiten us out. this could be your calling to a born again Christian life. read John 3;5 in the new testament. it's the key verse on becoming a born again Christian. it means that you are reborn the way Jesus thinks, speaks & acts. when you become b.a., you release the conformity of the world and are transformed to Jesus. you are regenerated. you are adopted into the family of Jesus. & you will be in heaven some day without any doubts. please don't be swayed by your disappointment in church. the born again Christian life is the only life in which you have a permanent joy. contrary to some religions, Jesus is a fun guy, yes He is funny. the new testament book of James is a fine beginning book as it contains "a plea for vital Christianity", lots of life lessons there Proverbs & Psalms are a great start for reading the Bible. it never means you won't have any problems but it's certainly the best life to live with the least amount of problems. during trials & tribulations you'll always have Jesus to assist you get thru them. Romans 8:16 & John 3:33 will reveal that God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit are true. when you become b.a., the H.S enters your life & lives with you for life. He is the comforter & teacher, your guide. check out John 14:26 & John 16:3. blessings to you Honeybee!

1 John 3:1~ Behold what manner of Love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God.
And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.

It only showed 4.5 minutes of The Gospel of John but I searched the web and watched the entire movie. Is the movie true to the Bible or did they change things a bit when they made it into the movie? The movie made me think a lot and even cry a little. Now I have to read the Gospel of John. I did try reading the Bible. The first chapter I read made me confused and have not tried it again yet.

I think I figured out why the others at church were embarrassed to talk to me. It was not their fault.

I have not watched the other 3 videos you sent me. I tried but my computer had problems but I will try again.

Oh, I am so sorry about that video not being the whole movie! I am glad you were able to find
the full length on the tube, though, and yes, it is a true-to-the-gospel-account, word for word
rendition of the book of John, though not in a version I would normally read, so when you read it,
I hope you choose something like the NIV, KJV, or BSB (New International Version, King James Version,
Berean Study [or Standard] Bible, respectively). Some people have trouble with the old English style
of the KJV so prefer newer translations, all of which get criticized for one reason or another.

If your computer is having problems playing videos you may need to do some basic maintenance.
What type of device are you using? The User2User tech support is great for getting help for those things.
