Well that's just too bad, since eggs are one of the most nutritious items one can consume. "Eggs are a staple food in many cultures and have been consumed for thousands of years. They are a rich source of protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, making them an important part of a healthy diet."

Especially when meat is hard to come by.

Easter conceived her son (Tumuz) at Easter time and gave birth at Christmas time.
They gave christian names to the pagan traditions.
Ishtar has nothing to do with easter and niether does tumuz have anything to do with Christmas. The earliest written record we have of Christmas beinh celebrated on December 25 was in 336. Now we have many councils refuting all manner of heresy, but no comdemnation or rejection of Christmas. Not even the reformers rejected Christmas. The eastern Orthodox church celebrates in January.
It can never be a pagan act to come together read the scriptures and sing songs about the Jesus Christ coming to earth being born of the virgin and beginning the redemptive plan of God.

The idea that Christians would allow pagans to rob us of our holidays with their lies boggles the mind. We have written tradition dating back to 336, and we have the reformers who kept the holidays when they were refuting the errors of the papacy. But suddenly in the 1900s pagans stake claims and christians flee.

The irony is that while claiming the Holidays they also throw a fit is there are public displays because it oppresses them somehow.

I thought it might be educational if people would share some New Age practices they've encountered in church. I have some of my own but I'll give others a chance to respond first. Where are all these New Age teachings and practices coming from, and why do people accept them so easily?
I was a New Ager 20 years ago. I was thinking I could get energy from rocks, trees, nature. Get it by meditation to be 'one' with them.

It's very very subjective. I didn't know what I was opening myself to.

Of course it feels good getting into nature and breathing in fresh air, but there is no foundation of truth.

One guru says one thing..another something else ... Another something else.. they often actually contradict eachother.

They are meant to be the source of 'spiritual wisdom'.

Now where does it affect the local church?

1.. taking individual interpretation of scripture and that becomes an 'own truth '... Even though it could be completely out of context. That isn't letting scripture speak for itself.

2... Elevating subjective experience over objective truth.. so when praying some may get hyped up or super relaxed.. and think that feeling is the Holy Spirit.. but it could be just emotions. Feelings come out of solid faith.. but not solid faith out of feelings .

3.. self edification, self empowerment, self enhancement, self help.. this is the main area I think where it would come in.

Christianity is about self denial and humbleness, not pumping your ego up.

New Age would be full of self pride. That's not Christianity.

As a retired pastor after serving 27 years, I haven't seen or heard any New Age or Higher Consciousness trends at all.
Why do pastors and authors here always feel the necessity of pointing out they're a pastor or author? Am I supposed to be impressed because you call yourself a pastor? Is your 27 year experience as a pastor supposed to give your opinions more weight or credibility? Sorry, I'm not impressed by titles.

sounds like made up phrase.:)(y):coffee:
False ecumenism is well practiced in heretical circles; There are consequences for those practicing false ecumenism whether they realize they are doing it or not.
