NO, I'm not saying that. My post before basically said, THE DISCIPLES WERE BORN AGAIN ... on the day of the Resurrection ... then also all 120 before Pentecost ... BECAUSE of Jesus saying RECIEVE HS and the principle of Romans 10:9=10. The whole of the 120 SAW Jesus in flesh. They had to be BELIEVES = born of the Spirit. Plus, 1st Cor. 15.6 says more than 500 SAW Jesus before ASCENSIN = born again based on Rms 10.9-10
I understood what you were saying, sorry. I was disagreeing with what you said that the nice lady said. I'd have to have more convincing evidence to agree with that.

"Baptise" simply means immerse. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit puts us into Christ. When we are baptised in the Holy Spirit, it is Christ putting us into the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus lives in the new, born again spirit of the believer. It is the spirit that is then immersed in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit indwelling is in effect Jesus in a form that we can receive. The baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers the believer for service in God's kingdom. It is possible to be baptised in the Holy Spirit and have great power and yet be unspiritual in fruit and life. The church in Corinth demonstrates this.

As to when, it is any time that a believer realises their need. God offers complete salvation in Christ. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is already available, poured out when Jesus was exalted. A Christian may be born again and not baptised in the Spirit. However, those who are not born again cannot receive the baptism of the Spirit.

It helps to know that gifts can be counterfeit. Not so with the fruit of the Spirit. The garment worn by the High Priest had a hem with alternating pomegranates and gold bells sown on. Fruit and gifts is the best way.

Born Again = Romans 10.9-10 says = confess Jesus + believe in your heart God raised Him from dead = SAVED = has to mean BA. So then. at night of Resurrection, the 10 boys ( less Judas and Thomas who wasn't there ) ... SAW Jesus ... saw his hands and feet ... and Jesus blew on them ... saying, RECEIVE HS. When Jesus speaks ... it happens. So the boys rec'd, then went on to CONFESS Him to Thomas and other = Rms 10.9-10. So then, the boys got the INDWELLING gift of HS as Jesus said: “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” Jn 4.14 Drinking = born again = water/Spirit goes IN believer ! Not Spirit UPON yet !
I don't believe in 2 born again experiences. I do believe in subsequent experiences of the Holy Spirit.

Still having trouble navigating.

Mem you say above: A Christian may be born again and not baptised in the Spirit. However, those who are not born again cannot receive the baptism of the Spirit.

I agree with this. So then, by this above statement, you mean: the Holy Spirt FIRST dwells in the heart (IN) and then the BAPTISM takes place = HS comes UPON ( the outside of the Believer ).

On the outside of the believer's spirit, yes. Imagine a bottle full of water immersed in a tub of water and you have an idea what I mean.

OP: meaning baptism OF the Holy Spirit?
What, when where?...Sorry trying to figure out how to respond and see the progress of this chat.
Precious friend, appreciate the questions, but, seems to me, if I may kindly say,
the progression got off 'on the wrong foot', so:

Did you mean to ask "meaning of 'baptism WITH The Holy Spirit'?":
Ephesians 1.13. Clearly, this says SEALED not Baptized. John said Matthew 1.8 “I indeed baptized you with water, but He [Jesus] will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. Also, Jesus said, Acts 1.5 “for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Because God's Word Of Truth Also Has Another Baptism 'BY The Holy Spirit', and
since 'water' is also Confusing many "in salvation and receiving The Holy Spirit,"
let us see this if this tri-fold baptism summary may be helpful:

Three baptisms, Rightly Divided, Within God's Contexts:

(1) Prophecy/Covenants/Law for ISRAEL:

water baptism was man's operation, Commanded by God
to John the baptizer, and then by Christ to:

►►► The Twelve apostles who Were Sent to {water} baptize! ◄◄◄

The TWO Main (of 12) baptismS =

A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli "priesthood!":
(Matthew_3:5-6; Mark_1:4; Luke_3:3; John_1:31; Luke 7:29-30; Acts_10:37)
(Matthew_28:19; Mark_16:16; Acts_2:38, 22:16; Ezekiel_36:25)
+
This Is The Baptism That "Christ Performed" after ascending Into Heaven:

B) Baptism WITH The Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for
power, signs And wonders!
(Isaiah_44:3; Matthew_3:11; Mark_1:8, 16:17-18;
Luke_24:49; Acts_2:17-18, 38, 8:15-17, 11:16)
Prophecy/Covenants/Law

Q: Are these TWO "still Required" By God, for us, Today, Under Grace?
Bible Answer:

Rightly Divided (2 Timothy 2:15) From “Things That DIFFER!” {online}:

I'' CONFUSED, ABOUT ONE OF YOUR ANSWERS ABOVE.

YOU SAY " ►►► Paul Was Not Sent to {water} baptize! Why Not?: ◄◄◄ "

SCRIPTURE SAYS:

Act 19:1

And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples
TOOLS
Act 19:2
he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”
TOOLS
Act 19:3

And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”
TOOLS
Act 19:4

Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”
TOOLS
Act 19:5

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
TOOLS
Act 19:6
And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
TOOLS
Act 19:7
Now the men were about twelve in all.

VS. 5. Clearly Paul WATER BAPTIZED the Ephesians. They didn't baptize themselves. Right ?

We are given the Holy Spirit at the moment we are born again. The third member of the Trinity makes us His dwelling place. He makes available comfort and understanding to all who will acknowledge Him and listen.

Yes. The Holy Spirit was poured out uniquely on that day. The OT prophets could be anointed but not baptised in the Holy Spirit. David could plead, "Do not take your Holy Spirit from me" (Psalm 51:11). Christians can quench or grieve the Holy Spirit. But God does not take His Holy Spirit from us.

Thank you Oyster67.

I agree with this general statement. Would you agree that this born again manifestation of HS ... in the heart of the Believer ... happens based on the principle of Romans 10:9-10 ! Assuming that repentance is all part of that confessing JESUS and believing God has raised Him from the dead.

Do you agree, that the pouring out of Holy Spirit ... as you say ... is what is called being Baptized in the Holy Spirit as promised by Jesus Lk 24:49 and Acts 1:5 and 8. ( = which is the Promise of the Father --- according to Joel 2.28 and Peter ... Acts 2.16 ... that the speaking in tongues was the sign ... Spirit was givien) ???

Baptized in the HS meaning, like water baptism ... HS coming UPON the OUTSIDE of the 120 believers ... NOT IN the believers. Why? The 120 were already Born Again ... before Pentecost ... according to the principle of Romans 10:9-10 ... they saw and confessed Jesus reurrected before Pentecost and they believed God had raised Him from the dead.

In addition, in John 20:22, Jesus BLEW on the 10 disciples ( 12 less Judas and James, who were not there ) and said: RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT. When Jesus SAYS something ... it happens = they got HS IN them !

Why wasn't HS UPON the 10 disciples and/or the 120 ? In Acts 1:5 ( ? 40 days after He blew upon them ), Jesus told these 10 and/or the 120, “for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” So, this evidences a 2nd manifestation of HS.

Granted when HS CAME UPON them at Pentecost ... HS also FILLED them ... thus assuming, even though they were Born Again ( HS in them ) ... they needed a fill-up !

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a once off event for the believer. Being filled with the Spirit is a continual process. (Ephesians 5:18). I was taught that the Greek literally says, "be being filled.." implying that it is more than a once off experience. As a Charismatic pastor I knew once said, "One baptism, many fillings".

I don't agree that tongues are the evidence for being baptised in the Holy Spirit. The most spiritual man I ever knew was baptised in the Holy Spirit about the same time as I was. He never spoke in tongues. I did, but I don't now. I am also well aware that it is possible to counterfeit the gift of tongues. My wife had a fake tongue before she was saved. This was the result of well meaning Pentecostals who pushed her into babbling nonsense then told her it was the Holy Spirit. I spoke in tongues the moment I was baptised in the Spirit.

The overemphasis on tongues has created division, distracted from the real purpose of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and taken away the glory from He who baptises us in His Spirit. It also feeds spiritual pride and an "us and them" mentality. We do not forbid speaking in tongues and my wife prays in tongues frequently. I no longer have a desire to pray in tongues.

OK. Then, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, is a 2nd manifestation of HS, after the person is born again. Cornelius and his house, heard Peter preach the Gospel ... supposing they must have BELIEVED during the sermon ... they got Born Again ... then HS came on them. Right ?
I was "Saved" (i.e. was Born again of the Holy Spirit) back in '63. That's when everything changed, and I wasn't suicidal any more, nor hopeless. being indwelled by the Holy Spirit will do that for you, and as frosting on the cake, I didn't smoke any more. I'd burned three packs a day (imagine what THAT would cost in 2023) for about a decade, and the morning after I was saved, I simply wasn't a "Smoker" any more, no withdrawal, no craving - nothing. I didn't QUIT smoking, I just no longer smoked. (more to that story). THAT let me know that things had changed.

Subsequently, In '73, I decided that (since I was a member of the Assemblies of God) that I should look into the "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" as Pentecostals call it.

Since the disciples were INDWELLED by the Holy SPirit in John 20:22, then Acts 2:4 was another breed of cat - referred to by Jesus as "Being Endued (externally clothed) with power. So at an FGBMFI meeting, I was prayed over to receive the "Baptism in the Holy SPirit".

Nothing happened.

About 3 weeks later, however, at another FGBMFI Meeting, during worship, an "odd word" came into my mind, and when I spoke it, there were more "odd words", which kept flowing into my mind as I spoke them. I realized that I was "Speaking in tongues". 58 years later I still do.

But more importantly, I was suddenly moved into an intense period of teaching in Home groups, and sunday school, when I had no ability to speak before a crowd of people, and expound Bible for a couple of hours, several times a week.

SO - my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE is that what's called "the baptism in the Holy Spirit", works exactly how the Bible says it does - gives you an ability to do things that simply weren't possible - before.

GREAT TESTIMONY !

JESUS and John CALLS IT THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ... so Pentecostals are right ! :) :) :) !

ACTS 1:5 “for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
JOHN 3:11 “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

This is exactly correct. Jesus ... same yesterday today and forever. BUT A LOT OF BELIEVERS HAVE BEEN sold a "bill of goods" ... false doctrine ... being, that ACTS 2 ... day of Pentecost ... is the DAY the 120 believers got born again . WRONG ! The disciples were born again ... the evening after Jesus was resurrected = John 20:22. Knowing, the biblical principle of Romans 10:9-10 ... all the 120 in the Upper Room were Born Again BEFORE Pentecost ... they had been confessing Jesus and believing Jesus was rose from the dead for 50 days or so. Pentecost is the 2nd manifestation of HS in a believer's life ! BOB is proof of this FACT ! Tongues is PROOF, that the HOLY SPIRIT was poured upon the 120 at Pentecost ... Peter said it was. Read Acts 2 carefully. What THING did the Jews see ? They were NOT in the upper room with the 120 ... they didn't see the tongues of fire ! We can concluded ... after the HS fell ON the 120 ... they went outside ... excited / animated by HOLY SPIRIT ... speaking in TONGUES. Peter said ... this thing ... tongues.. proves Joel's ( God's ) Promise has been fulfilled ... when ? ... at day of Pentecost.

Read ACTS 2.39 carefully. Peter ... God ... says the PROMISE ( with resulting manifestation of tongues ) is for all afar off ( us today ), but more importantly ... the Promise is FOR ... all who are CALLED. If you're born again ... you are called. Pray Acts 2.39 ... tell God ... you want same Promise ... same manifestation = proof . God is no respecter of persons.
