i always thought this was really interesting. in some examples we are told people could understand they were Speaking in their Language. it NEVER says they understood what was really being said, only that it was in their Language.
and then Paul clears it up that the Utterance from the Holy Spirit to Speak in Tongues is for God to understand.
to me, it is really Special that God looks at us, and says this person needs this but has never asked for it, then has the Spirit to give Utterance so when Tongues are Spoken God can understand and give what the person needs.

we have not because we ask not and sometimes God makes us ask Him through the Holy spirit to make sure we get it.
what an AMAZING God we serve!

i'm going to rat myself out here. it's this time of year i watch the most TV. college football, NFL, playoff Baseball, NBA, Hockey, and Nascar Playoffs. i flip through the channels and sometimes will catch a preacher late night like Charles Stanley and sometimes catch his son Andy but when i flip through TBN-Day Star-Lesea- etc. the one who sometime catches my attention is Ron Carpenter [straight up good ole boy hillbilly] who left his mega Church in South or North Carolina and said God told him to build a Church near San Fran, California where those Left Winged juggernauts have no idea who God is and spend more time at pet stores looking for gerbils.
