Make sense that I would sit silent while someone proposes a complete upheaval of the order of the home which God created. I can understand why it's shocking to some that anyone would say MSNBC has bad ideas.
If it's any consolation, I wanted to reassure you that this is not a site that pushes or condones liberal agendas. However, I do tend to write threads about very controversial subjects. We are all called to different ministries -- for several years, I was writing to and visiting prison inmates, some with LWOP (life without parole,) about God and faith, so I tend to think about things from very different points of view.
If you ever feel my posts or threads are a threat to conservative Christian beliefs, feel free to report them. The mods are very aware of my threads and I always invite anyone who thinks my posts are out of line to go to them with their concerns, and I trust them to make the best decisions for the community. I say this not as some kind of clout but rather, background information -- I came here in 2009 and have written, I would guess, about 1,000 threads. A mod mentioned years ago that I was up to about 400 but that was quite a while ago so I'm just making a rough estimate -- and of course, they are free to correct me if I'm way off.
My only point in saying this is that the long-time people on the site know who I am and what I stand for and why I bring up these topics -- and it's not to usurp the Godly order of the household, but to get people talking about they see happening around them and what we as Christians can do about it.
I write my threads with a particular audience in mind -- those who have a goal of listening to and discussing topics, sometimes uncomfortable ones, with others. As I said in another post, there are generally two types of posters who answer these threads -- those who are in for the long haul of an in-depth discussion who are reading along as the posts are dropped, and those who might not have the time to read posts, or who drop by in order to be heard by others rather than to listen (which is why they only read the title and not the opening post before answering) -- and that's perfectly fine.
Both types of posters are welcome and both keep the site going.
As for me, I generally specifically design the threads for those who are in for the journey, as those are the ones who, in some cases, I've been blessed enough to make connections with and sometimes even meet in person.
It just occurred to me though that newcomers who see these kinds of titles might not understand because they are unfamiliar with the context and background (my threads are also often continuations of discussions going on in other threads), and might be think they have joined a site that is somehow endorsing some kind of rebellion against traditional Biblical values.
I can assure you this is not the case. And again, if you feel, after reading through the posts and discussions, that what I've presented is out of line, I encourage you to drop a line to the mods at any time.
No one is exempt here and even some long-time members have faced consequences for going too far.
If I am one of them, I am fully prepared to accept whatever the administration would decide to do in response to complaints about myself or my posts.
