Dressing modestly 1 Timothy 2:9

When I asked about modest clothing I didn't want anyone to get mad or argue about it or anything like that. I hope putting it on here was ok because I didn't mean it to offend anybody at all but if I did I am so sorry. I am glad that people shared their ideas on here because I liked reading them because in person it's not as easy to talk with people about things. I look at it everyday to read what they said about modest clothing because I have worn dresses and skirts most of my life but I know that the hose is more old fashioned but I don't like being judged or laughed at just because my legs are dressed more proper in hose and not bare but I know its more modern to wear jeans and if the female wears a dress or skirt most of them want her legs and feet bare not covered but I'm honest up front how I dress.

Modest is the hottest

"Refreshing" indeed- in mysterious ways. I used to have some minor episodes of rage and fury when I had to work long periods of time without time off- but it was always dispelled very quickly whenever I saw a certain old-school catholic lady, and somewhat by the mennonite women (I do not like their headgear, though).
But I can't be angry around a modest lady.

Inherently, dresses have nothing to do with modesty. They are a convention; nothing more.

Modesty is not calling attention to oneself, whether by flamboyance, frumpiness, or flaunting one's features. Just wear what is comfortable, appropriate to the season and situation, and affordable for you.

As far as the photos are concerned, only one of the photos that I sold back then was my own. I had a friend back then (no friends now...boo hoo hoo) who was very much into photography, and he let me use his photos/negatives for most of the photos that I sold. He had some good shots from Israel as well. In fact, two of my best sellers were a shot that he took of Jesus' tomb and a shot that he took of people praying at the Wailing Wall. I also purchased some photos from photographers that I found online. Now, the only photos that I take are of my children, and I use my cellphone for that.

As far as the t-shirts are concerned, I initially began with heat transfers myself, but I quickly changed to screen printing because so many other vendors would just copy my designs when they saw that they were selling. I had a friend (Wait...I've actually had two friends over the course of my lifetime? UNBELIEVABLE!) who used to do screen printing for me, but, sad to say, he died of a massive heart attack about 4 years ago. I also used to do embroidery for a few years. I bought a pretty fancy (and expensive) embroidery machine years ago; primarily to do custom jackets and t-shirts for the Veterans I regularly encountered at the VA Hospitals that I was working at back then. I made my money back quickly, and much more, and then I ultimately sold the machine back to the store that I bought it from for half the price that I initially paid for it.

As far as Amazon is concerned, it's even worse than you think. They always gave me some sort of grief in relation to my Christian designs. Then, about a month and a half before they deactivated my account, they sent out an email to all of their sellers in which they updated their "Terms of Service". No longer would any designs be allowed that might be considered "offensive" to somebody else's religious beliefs.

So, what design of mine caused them to deactivate my account?

It was a "Not today, Satan" design.

I guess that I offended the Satanists.

i dont think they are modest cos people wear them with holes showingtheir butts and everything, and brag about how expensive and designer they are

You dont have to wear what everyone else is wearing
just wear what is clean and comfortable for you

we had a pink shirt day at school supoosedly to stop this kind of bullying because nobody else wore pink shirts esp boys
so it was made that EVERYONE wears them

then the bullying happens to people who DONT wear pink shirts lol It was just like the Dr seuss sneetches story

exception is if you have to wear a uniform and got no choice, wear it, sometimes thats what you need to do
but otherwise wear what fits for you.

with dresses and skirts you can wear leggings or thick stockings underneath (not thin or sheer pantyhose) and your legs will be warm

you can also wear woollen pants or cordoroys or even trackpants

I agree jeans are boring and. dont keep your legs warm anyway, they are a pain to wear.
I wouldnt say they are modest they are actually expensive and most overr rated item of clothing there is

Ok yes I wear the leggings and stockings and pantyhose under the dress not bare legs. It is more modest to keep my legs and feet dressed it is how I was raised plus how it feels.

I don't own a lot of dresses or skirts, but last year, for my birthday, I decided I wanted to start dressing in a more feminine way. I, so far, have bought 3 skirts and a couple dresses, (Thank you Ross and consignment shops) and I just ordered another skirt and top to wear for real estate closings. I like feeling "girly" in them. I still wear my jeans and pants when I work in the machine shop, mainly because it's safer to not have the flowy-ness of skirts, but now that it's spring and summer coming, especially, I am liking the coolness of skirts.

When I was married, initially, my wife, of her own choosing, dressed very modestly, and she consequently used to dress our two daughters very modestly back then as well. She was walking with Christ at that time. Eventually, she renounced Christ/Christianity, and she now literally dresses like a whore. Don't take my word for it. I've had other people ask me what's wrong with her in that she looks like a whore. Sad to say, our two daughters have basically followed suit. The way that they dress leaves nothing to one's imagination.

Not too long ago, out of genuine concern, one of my nieces texted me some photos of my eldest daughter that she had posted on one of her social media accounts. In all seriousness, it was like looking at porn. I had it out with my daughter over that one, and one other time when she was wearing a see-through halter top with no bra underneath it at a party where many teen-aged boys were in attendance. In fact, this party was in her mother's house.

Anyhow, they all used to wear leggings under their dresses or skirts, and when you mentioned how you wear the same it triggered these memories.

Long tops with leggings works well for being more feminine than jeans and/or pants all the time, as well

kids who have cruelness in their hearts will still find ways to let it out, even when schools impliment uniforms.
When my kids were still in public school (we homeschool now) they attended a school that had a uniform policy. The policy allowed a few different variations of the uniform, one being a very nice sweater vest over the white button down shirt, and optional tie. My son LOVED it, so of course we ended up having to invest in these pieces. After a few times wearing it he suddenly stopped, and when I asked him why he told me that the other boys didn't wear that option and made fun of him for doing it



Of course, after causual chit chatting with other moms the truth finally came out. They didn't want to deal with the laundry, and stains on white shirts, etc. so they all stuck to 5 pairs of basic polo shirt and uniform pants (plus it eliminated the morning decissions of "what to wear" ) None of these moms had any idea that their kids were "bullies" until one commented one day about not seeing my son in his nice uniform in a while and how nice he always looked in it. I told them how it all stopped when he came home upset because the other boys (aka THEIR sons) were teasing him for always being "dressed up".

Bonus if they're cowboy (or girl) boots!

why is it that kids just hate or tease anybody whos different
you could be wearing the exact same uniform but if your skin or hair colour is different from most everyone else you always gonna be THAT kid :-(

but instead of going wow you different and special (positive) its like you wrong and weird (negative)

it makes me think that some people are so used to living in a cultural desert that they cant think what life would be like in an exotic coral reef for example, where everyone has their own niche

I think in context of Timothys letter it was more expensive jewellery Paul was talking about.

He had come from Ephesus and Macedonia , so not sure exactly what style the women were wearing then but he definitely wrote not ' broidered hair, gold, pearls and costly array'

a lot of women wore their jewellery like it was a cutlery shop and their clothes were frills and bows galore

then in 1920s coco chanel came along and pretty much changed it all, simple being elegant and easy.

Think women today have a lot to thank her for no more corsets and crinolines and starched this and that
you dont even need to iron much anymore

but theres been terrible fashions still like I dont get the polyester clothes that fall apart after five wears.
